Wednesday January 27, 2021- We will have our final exam at 9:00 a.m.

Tuesday January 26, 2021- We will finish up our end tasks and do a little exam review.

Monday January 25, 2021- We will work on our end tasks. The business plans are due on Wednesday morning.

Friday January 22, 2021- I would like to work a little bit on the end tasks. I would like to watch one last Dragon's Den... a special one... with Margot Woodworth from Evergreen Memories from Dryden.... a few years back.

Thurday January 21, 2021- Mr. Carter will be here. We looked at the venture profile for Frett Design based in Quebec to highlight cash flow problems and solutions. Discussed potential cash in and cash out items needed to run this business. Looked at a few more sample cash flow projection statements. Worked on financial projections for business plan.

Wednesday January 20, 2021- We will discuss different methods of financing a business venture today.

Tuesday January 19, 2021- We will work on the busines plan. We will continue to discuss markup and margin as well.

Monday January 18, 2021- We will look at pricing strategies again today - more specifically markup and margin. We will look at what they are used for and then do some examples together. We will then have a short assignment based on this to help your understanding of it all.

Friday January 15, 2021- We will have a bit of time to finish off our Kendal Netmaker summaries. We will then work on our business plan until about 11:10. We will finish off with a few guests on Dragon's Den.

Thursday January 14, 2021- Mr. Carter will continue his look at resources. He will look at a travel company and how it is rejigging itself with the Covid pandemic.

Wednesday January 13, 2021- Mr. Carter will run the show today. He will look at resources necessary to run a business.

Tuesday January 12, 2021- We will have a little review game for cash and prizes. We will then work on the business plan.

Monday January 11, 2021- We will be working on the business plan for most of the day. We will also have a few Newscrawl presentations.

Friday January 8, 2021 - We will have the beginning of the class to work on the Operations and Manufacturing Worksheet. We will use the rest of the class to finish up anything that you need to do for the Newscrawl or the Interview of an Entrepreneur.

Thursday January 7, 2021 - We will start the day looking at Resources needed for a successful venture. Then, take a bit of time to finish writing the marketing plan in formal version. Feel free to email me or Mr. Carter what you have at any time if you would like us to take a look at it.
If time permits, we will work on the Operations and Manufacturing Worksheet to help us figure out the logistical portion of the business plan. You will likely have a million questions for this, so Mr. Carter and I can help you through it.

Wednesday January 6, 2021 - We will use the class to put our Marketing Plan Worksheet into a formal paragraph format. We will look at the next video from Kendal Netmaker with his Driven to Succeed videos.

Tuesday January 5, 2021 - I would like to cover a few other concepts in Chapter 8 today in our text. Then, we will spend the day working on our Marketing Plan Worksheet. I hope that this can get pretty much finished today.

Monday January 4, 2021 - Welcome back... sort of! :) Hope your 2021 is off to a great start! A few housekeeping things here today.. First, your Interview of an Entrepreneur is due a week today (Monday January 11th). Please follow the assignment for what I would like you to submit. Second, We will start the second newscrawl when we see you next... so, at this point, next week, so that should be taken care of this week. Remember the new format and the new requirements.
Also, we will look at Meades Restoration - an entrepreneurial venture that pulls in over $100,000 a year, just by removing gum off of sidewalks. Please read this article and answer the following:
1. What are your thoughts, impressions, etc of this fella's business venture?
2. Why do you think I wanted you to read this story?
Then, we will carry on with our business plans.

Next, I would like to work on finishing up our business description - formal draft. IN this, you will take the information that you extracted in the Business Description worksheet and put it into a more formal paragraph style, with titles, subtitles, and headings. Save this into a different document. (probably called "Business Plan".)
Finally for today, I would like you to start on the Marketing Plan Worksheet. Again, this form will help you figure out the content that you will need to write this section in formal paragraph style. I would also like to have a quick look at the Three functions of a marketing strategy on page 180.

Friday December 18, 2020 - We will have a quiz and then watch the great entrepreneurship movie about a great entrepreneur!

Thursday December 17, 2020 - We will start the class with e a Newscrawl presentation! Then, we will start Chapter 8, which is all about Analyzing your Market.

Wednesday December 16, 2020 - We will start off with some brainteasers to get you going... Then, we will use the first half of the class to look at the Life Cycle of a Business. We will have a little activity where we will look at some definitions that are pertinent to the business plan. We will then look at a quote by Milton Berle. We will then do a crossword puzzle and with the time remaining, work on the Business Description of your business plan.

Tuesday December 15, 2020 - We will start the class working on the formal version of our business description for the first half. We will spend some time with our focus on Kendal Netmaker and his Driven to Succeed videos.

Monday December 14, 2020 - We will have a half hour or so to develop our questions for the interview of an entrepreneur. Please run them by me when you are done. This assignment is due MONDAY JANUARY 14TH. PLEASE SEE ME ASAP IF YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET THIS DEADLINE. DON'T LEAVE IT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.

I would like to go through some sample business plans and talk about the look of your business plan. I would encourage you to look at as many samples as possible. Here are a few places to start:

This seems to be a decent fillable form for your business plan.
Futurpreneur This seems like a good site as well... has templates and samples. You will have to make an account.
** Also, try the various bank websites... they all have a section for Business Development, which often includes templates, fillable templates, and sample business plans.

Friday December 11, 2020 - We will spend a bit of time on the Business Description. Mr. Carter will be joining us and we will be looking at an inspiring entrepreneur and speaker named Kendal Netmaker and his story.

Thursday December 10, 2020 - Welp! Turns out it is our first snow day in 2 school years. We will use this class as a great opportunity to catch up or get ahead of the game.... remember... Entrepreneurs are always looking to take advantage of an opportunity.

Wednesday December 9, 2020 - We will do a few brainsteasers just to warm you up! Then, we will have a bit of time to work on your Business Plan research project. We will first we will complete the Let's Get Started...
Then, we willl continue with the Business Plan by working on the Business Description.

Tuesday December 8, 2020 - We wil start the class with a few brainteasers.
After much delay, we will present our Market-pulled entrepreneurship presentations. Please ensure that you share/email me your presentation.
Then, we will get into the busines plan... We will learn what it is all about, why we need it, etc.
Then, we will look at some existing business plans and work on the Business Plan research project. ... You could find your own samples, or look at a few samples from the RBC website. The RBC website offers a lot of good resources and often has samples and templates that you can use to help when writing the business plan.

Monday December 7, 2020 - We reviewed criteria for a useful questionnaire and why/how we conduct primary market research. Completed our draft questionnaire for primary research for our venture idea. Then, we looked at idea generation with the

Friday December 4, 2020 - Today we finished up our secondary research activity based on our venture idea and shared some of our findings. We then looked at primary marketing research - we explored the criteria for a successful focus group and a useful survey. Will finish up our draft surveys on Monday.

Thursday December 3, 2020 - We will start the class looking market trends. We will read pages 120-126 in our textbook and then complete the Following Market Trends worksheet.

Wednesday December 2, 2020 - We will have our Chapter 1-5 test... please make sure you review/study well and you are prepared. We will have some time to finish up our Market-pulled Entrepreneurship project. We will then look at the Technology and Change Worksheet to try and generate business ideas for the business plan.

Tuesday December 1, 2020 - We will look at Brainteaser 6165. We will then have a bit of time to work on our Mindmap projects (about 1/2 an hour). We will then step back to Chapter 5 for a moment and look at the Problem Solving process and then complete an assignment on that. We will do a bit of review for the test tomorrow. We will then start the Market-pulled Entrepreneurship assignment.

Monday November 30, 2020 - We will have the first half of the class to work on our Mind Map projects.
Then, we will look at Chapter 6 today. We will look at what comes first in entrepreneurship... the chicken or the egg. We will do this by looking at "market-pulled entrepreneurship" and "product-driven entrepreneurship". We will look at the Venture Profile of the Satellite Sisters, who started a great venture based on something that they all liked to do... "talk".

Friday November 27, 2020 - Today we will learn about and experience a brainstorming strategy called Mind Mapping. You will create your own mind map based on an entrepreneurial venture that you may want to start up one day. We will have the option of doing it old school or using technology with MindMeister. Here are a few samples of really great Mind Maps.

Thursday November 26, 2020 - Today, we will go through the DeBono's Hats and then have an assignment to follow.

Wednesday November 25, 2020 - We we will work on the Protecting Your Idea Assignment.
Then, we will continue with idea generation and have a little fun playing the "Pitch It" game.

Tuesday November 24, 2020 - We will have a little time to finish off the legendary Invention and Innovation assignment. Then, we will look at what patents, copyrights and trademarks are and complete a little assignment on that.

Monday November 23, 2020 - We will have that quiz that we were supposed to have on Friday. Then, we will look at Invention and Innovation. Then we will work on the legendary Invention and Innovation assignment.

Friday November 20, 2020 - We will have a short quiz on the course so far. We will look at Idea brainstorming... guys against the girls.. to come up with as many different ideas for potential business ventures. Guys won by the way... Then, we will have a bit of time to work on our Entrepreneurial Newscrawl and/or the Interview of an Entrepreneur.

Thursday November 19, 2020 - We will have the first half of the class to work on the Made or Born Assignment. We may have a short quiz on Chapter 3.
Then, we will start Chapter 5. We will be looking at where entrepreneurs get ideas from, being observant, how good ideas transfer into ventures. We will have a few fun activities to play with this.

Wednesday November 18, 2020 - We will carry on with the the Made or Born Assignment from yesterday.
A) Part A will incorporate the use of a few online quizzes that assess your potential as an entrepreneur. BUT..... before we begin, I would like to EMPHASIZE that you should take these quizzes "with a grain of salt". They do mention many characteristics important to being an entrepreneur, but don't panic if you don't feel you measure up with these! :) Check out:

Tuesday November 17, 2020 - We will do a bit of a review of Entrepreneurship thus far and finish off with a quick Brainteaser. We will start a quick look at Chapter 3, which is all about assessing your Entrepreneurial Potential. We will look at the Venture Profile on page 44: Turning a Problem into an Opportunity. This is a great entrepreneurial story and one that is typical of how many businesses get their start.
We will then look at Goals/Goal Setting and the importance of setting goals for both your personal life and your entrepreneurial life. We will complete the Goals Worksheet.
Then, we will work on the Made or Born Assignment.

Monday November 16, 2020 - We will start with a quick review game of the course so far! Then, we will look at the Venture Profile: Three Blondes Cook up Sweet Success.

Friday November 13, 2020 - We will have about 15 minutes to look for articles with the Entrepreneuerial News Crawls assignment. Then, we will look at characteristics of entrepreneurial ventures, getting into specifics on Local/Provincial/National/Internation. I would like to quickly talk about Supply and Demand and how it relates to businesses and entrepreneurs. We will have about 15 minutes to look for articles with the Entrepreneuerial News Crawls assignment. We will finish off our Friday, but watching a bit of Dragon's Den. As you do, try to become inspired by the efforts of the entrepreneurs and see if you can detect some characteristics of these entrepreneurs that stand out.

Thursday November 12, 2020 - Welcome to Welcome to Entrepreneurship! In this course, we are going to teach you as much as we can about starting your own business.

oday, we will look at all that extremely exciting stuff like introductions, course outlines, class rules, etc. We may then play a few ice breaker games and then talk about what the course would really be about.
We will look at what entrepreneurship is and what an entrepreneur is. Hopefully we will have a great discussion about that. We will also look at Needs and Wants.
