Morning Announcements – Oct. 29, 2009

Oct. 29 There will be a brief meeting for all members of the boys hockey team today @ 11:30 in room 210.
Oct. 28, 29 Any girl in Dryden High School wanting to explore exciting careers in the skilled trades and technologies, you are invited to attend the “Skills Work for Women” dinner being held on Nov. 5 from 5:30 to 9:00 at the Cultural Centre.  Cost is $10.00.  Please see Mrs. McMonagle in the Co-op office.
Oct. 27 – 30 EAGLES NEST is having a Halloween Contest.  Come down to the Eagles Nest at lunch this week.  Guess the weight of the pumpkin.  Win a prize.  No purchase necessary.
Oct. 26 – 29 Students with Safe Grad tickets are reminded to return their tickets and money in at the main office before Friday, October 30th.

DHS Celebrates Honour Roll Students

Honour roll students and their parents joined DHS Admin for an honour roll presentation and breakfast at the Centre.

On Wednesday morning Dryden High School hosted a breakfast for all Honour Roll students and their parents. The DHS Honour Roll is a list of students who achieved an average of 80% or greater in all of their classes in the previous school year.

Principal Kathy McConnachie congratulated all of the students for their hard work and dedication, acknowledging the difficulty in balancing education, work and family commitments.

Special awards were also given to the following students for achieving the highest overall average in their grade:

Christina Tran, 94.38

At the end of the presentation, Mr. Hodgkinson took a moment to have students recognize the importance of the support that students receive from parents and family in achieving this level of academic excellence.

Tuesday Court Sports Results

The Eagles travelled to Fort Frances for court sports on Tuesday, and ended up splitting the results with the Muskies.

In Volleyball, the Senior Boys came out on top of the Muskies, winning in 4 sets, while the Junior boys fell in straight sets.

The Junior girls edged out the Muskies 19-18 in a close match. The Muskies defeated the Senior Girls 27-17.

Our Eagles travel to Kenora Tuesday, November 3rd to take on the Beaver Brae Broncos in their final league games of the regular season.
