Goal scorers were Carney McConnachie, Tyler Kirouac, Alex Calvert and Kyson Jensson
Justin Oltsher faced 34 shots for win

Game #2
1-2 Loss (OT) on Fri Jan 5th vs Edge Gold from Alberta
Alex Calvert scored late in the 3rd period to send the game to overtime but the Edge team scored early to spoil the comeback.
Brendan Szabo faced 52 shots in the game to earn Player of Game for DHS

3-0 loss vs John Taylor
DHS was outshot badly once again but goaltender Adam Notte faced 35 shots and played very well to keep DHS in the game… until late in the 3rd when John Taylor scored twice to put the game out of reach for the Eagles.

DHS lost 4-3 in OT vs Oak Park (Currently the top team in WHSHL)
DHS was tied 1-1 after first period as Drew Walske scored on a Power Play, but Oak Park scored twice on the PP in the second. With DHS trailing 3-1 after 2 periods Tyler Kirouac lead the Eagles back into the game with a pair of goals in the 3rd period but the Eagles lost once again in OT.
The Eagles were out-shot 65-13 in the game and played very well defensively. Goaltender Justin Oltsher received Player of the Game honours for his solid performance between the pipes.

Coaches comments:
Our team learned this weekend that we can compete with the best teams in Manitoba. To come back and force OT vs Oak Park was a great effort by everyone on the team. It was a heart breaking loss
but the confidence gained will hopefully carry over into the 2nd half of their season.

Court Sports vs. Kenora

The Senior Boys Basketball team has defeated the Broncos 39 to 25. Thomas Cooper had 10. Kurtis Burnell had 8.

The Junior Boys Basketball team lost to the Broncos 37-28. Matt Kelly had 8 and Brandon Thompson had 6.

Senior Girls Volleyball won in 4 sets – 25-18, 25-11, 23-25, 25-17.

The Junior Girls Volleyball team also won in 4, 25-20, 18-25, 26-24, 25-21.

Eagles are at home in Dryden to take on Fort Frances on Wednesday.

Eagles Boys Basketball in Baudette

The Eagles Sr. Boys Basketball team headed over the border this weekend for tournament play in Baudette.

The Boys dominated their opponents in game 1, picking up a 72-30 win. Josh Kitt scored 12 and Greg Olson 11.

Game 2 vs. Baudette saw the Eagles come out on top with a 66-57 victory. Kurtis Burnell tallied an impressive 15 points and Devon Noel had 7.
