DHS Skiers post impressive results in Kenora

The nordic ski team was in Kenora yesterday for NorWOSSA competition.  Despite the course being soft and slow due to new snow, DHS skiers pushed through, ending in some great results.

In the junior boys category, Luke Smith skied the 5.1km course in 22:02 to win NorWOSSA gold!  1:38 later, Ilya Perkins finished to take the silver medal.

In the very competitive senior girls category, Sarah Smith was able to finish in a time of 29:12, good enough for 3rd place.

First time racer, Robert Grandmont skied the 1.2km open division course in a time of 8:14, capturing NorWOSSA gold and adding to Dryden’s medal count.

The 7.2km senior boys category was a very hilly challenge, seeing Dryden skiers placing 4th, 5th and 6th.

Of other note is up and coming skier, Michael Hodgkinson who represented Dryden in the Grade 7/8 division. He finished a strong 3rd out of 23 racers, despite going off course at one point.

The Eagles Nordic Team will be heading to Marathon next Wednesday for NWOSSA competition.
