How the contest works

From August 29 to October 9, students across Canada in grade nine, Senior I (Manitoba) and Secondary III (Quebec) are being asked to submit photos representing their “dream job,” along with a short description (25 words or less) about why it’s their dream job. The eligible Grand Prize winner will be selected by online voting between October 17 and October 23 with the winner being announced on October 24. To participate, students must be at least 13 and legal Canadian residents.*

Each week for six weeks, the 10 best photos will be displayed online for public voting. (You and your co-workers or colleagues can get involved in the contest by voting for your favourite photos every week.) Three students every week whose photos receive the most votes will win prizes (approximate prize values range from $60 to $350 CDN), which include:

  • Canon®  PowerShot® ELPH 100HS digital camera
  • Apple 2GB 4th generation iPod shuffle ††
  • HP Mini 210 HD Netbook
  • Xbox 360 – 4GB Console and Kinect Bundle †††
  • And more!

And every week, the first-place winner advances to the finalists’ gallery, for a chance to win the Grand Prize.

The Grand Prize – visiting our nation’s capital

All weekly finalists are eligible to win the Grand Prize return trip from their home to Ottawa with their parent/guardian to meet the Honourable Andrew Scheer, Speaker of the House of Commons on The Learning Partnership’s 2011 Take Our Kids to Work™ day (Wednesday, Nov. 2). The winner will also tour national attractions such as Parliament Hill, The National Gallery of Canada, The Royal Canadian Mint and the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Odds of winning depend, in part, on the number of eligible entries received. This great Grand Prize trip has an approximate retail value of $2,450 CDN!

The Grand Prize winner will be announced October 24, 2011.
