Do you have a son or daughter starting grade nine this year?  Do you know someone starting grade nine? If you answered “yes” to either of those, pass this email right along!

It’s time again to get grade nines thinking early about career paths and their favourite dream jobs. The Learning Partnership, in partnership with Scotiabank^®, is launching the 2011 Ultimate Dream Job Contest on Monday, August 29. This national online photo contest is designed to get teens thinking about their futures, in an exciting way.

Grade nines have a chance to:

• Win one of 18 weekly prizes – three winners each week
• Win the Grand Prize trip to Ottawa on The Learning Partnership’s Take Our Kids to Work™ day
• Help their schools win $1,000 courtesy of Scotiabank^®

The Dryden Rotary Club is sponsoring a DHS student to attend “Adventures in Technology”, which is a 6 day event running from May 1st to 6th (travel time included).

One DHS student will be chosen to join students from across Western Canada for an intense exploration of advanced technology, research development and applications. This is a highly academic program having students visiting some of Canada’s finest corporations and research facilities such as the University of Saskatchewan, Research Council and the Canadian Light Source Synchrotron, Hitachi Canadian Industries and College of Medicine, to name a few.

Visit the Guidance Office if you would like to be considered for this all expense paid program.

Deadline for applications is Tuesday, March 8th.

Students in grades 5-12 are invited to enter A&E’s ‘LIVES THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE’ ESSAY CONTEST by writing and submitting an original essay in 300 words or less on who they think made the greatest impact on Canadian society in 2010. Deadline is December 15th, 2010.
