DHS Ambassadors Serve with a Smile

The DHS Ambassadors held a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday, serving around 200 people a meal of homemade spaghetti and meatballs.

The Ambassadors are raising funds for their March trip to Ireland, Scotland and England.

Boys Hockey vs. Red Lake results

The DHS Eagles wrapped up the regular season with a pair of wins at home vs. the Red Lake Rams this weekend. Friday night saw the Eagles over Red Lake 14-1 and Saturday the Eagles repeated the performance with an 11-3 victory.

Friday night had Kim Wildhaber in net for win. The forward Line of Ryan Lobreau (5 G, 2A) Grant Valiquette (3G, 4A) and Matt Bartlett (2G, 6A) dominated the play by collecting 22 of the 37 pionts in the game for DHS. Other scorers were Kyle Hamilton, Blair Dingwall, Ethan Egli, and Jared Stratford all with singles. A penalty filled game saw DHS score 5 times on the powerplay and once short handed.

Saturday saw Zach Lake between the pipes for the Eagles. Goals scorers were Matt Bartlett with 3 goals, Kyle Hamilton and Brendan Angeconeb with 2 goals each, and singles from Ethan Egli, Ryan Lobreau, Blair Dingwall and Zack Pitchenese. Bartlett also picked up one assist and it was just enough to put him in the top position for the NorWOSSA scoring race with 29 points as he edges out Jamie Kaun of Fort Frances who has 28 points. Ryan Lobreau finished in third with 25 points and Grant Valiquette in 4th with 23.

The Eagles are now in playoff mode after finishing in 3rd place. The best of 3 semifinals playoffs begin on the road in Kenora on Fri Feb 26. Game time is 7:30pm at Thistle Arena. Game #2 of semis will be on Sun Feb 28 in Dryden with a 6:00pm puck drop. The winner of this series will play the winner of the other semi final series between Red Lake and Fort Frances the following week.

NorWOSSA Results

The Dryden Eagles Junior Girls are NorWOSSA Gold Medalists after defeating the Fort Frances Muskies in three sets (27-25, 26-24, 25-12).

The Fort Frances Muskie Junior Boys have defeated the DHS Eagles 71-34 to become the NorWOSSA Gold Medalists in Jr. Basketball.

The Fort Frances Muskie Senior Boys defeated the Beaver Brae Broncos to win the NorWOSSA Gold Medal. They will travel to Thunder Bay for the NWOSSA championship.

The DHS Senior Girls have won the Gold Medal match in three straight, 25-12, 25-14 and 25-9. The team will travel to Thunder Bay to compete in the NWOSSA Championship.
