Hey DHS! Do you have a hidden talent you want to show off? Maybe no one knew you could play guitar or sing. Maybe you’ve never told anyone you are really good at stand up. Regardless of what your talent is we want to see it! Leadership is holding a talent show December 20th in the big gym. Signup sheet is in the main office and the library. (Last Call for sign up Dec.13th)  
The Eagles Nest will be holding its Annual Parent Shopping Night from 4-6:30pm on Tuesday Dec. 10th. Please tell your parents/guardians as it is a great opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done.  
White Ribbon Campaign at DHS is TOMORROW Dec. 6. Students will be coming to Block A classes to distribute ribbons for students and staff. The White Ribbon Campaign is a global movement of men and boys working to end male violence against women and girls. The White Ribbon Campaign has spread to over 60 countries around the world. White ribbons asks men to wear white ribbons as a sign of their pledge to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women and girls.  
Sign up for Dryden Rifle and Pistol Club is taking place Monday Jan 6th 7-9pm. For more information please visit us in the main office.  
Reminder that Book Art happening today in the library during lunch TODAY. Please bring your lunch and join in the fun   Sign Language Club has been cancelled TODAY  
A reminder to all Hoops for Heart participant to get your pledges and excused forms completed as there a team captains meeting Friday at lunch in the library. Please have your team captain bring all forms to the meeting.  
Any students or teachers willing to volunteer for the Snowball Dance on December 12th from 4:30-6:15 or 7pm- 10:30pm, the signup sheet will be in the mail office. Student volunteer hours will be given.

Two wins for Eagles hockey last night. The boys outlasted Beaver Brae 5-3 behind goals from Tanner Henderson, Greg Mol, Aiden Bullock and 2 from Curtis Viherjoki. The girls needed a 3rd period goal from Talia Marion to give Brynn Montgomery a 1-0 shutout win over The Broncos. The next home game is Sunday Dec 15 when the Red Lake Rams visit.

NOTICE TO FAMILIES OF KPDSB STUDENTS

UPDATE FOR DECEMBER 2, 2019

KPDSB SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED TO STUDENTS ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2019, AS A RESULT OF OSSTF’S ONE-DAY, PROVINCE-WIDE FULL WITHDRAWAL OF SERVICES IF AN AGREEMENT IS NOT REACHED

Late last week, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) announced they will escalate job action to a one-day, province-wide full withdrawal of services on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, if a new agreement isn’t reached before then.  OSSTF members in KPDSB schools include secondary and adult education teachers, as well as elementary and secondary Education Assistants, office, clerical, library and occasional staff.

Should they announced one-day, province-wide full withdrawal of services go ahead on Wednesday, December 4, this will be a full strike by OSSTF members and all KPDSB schools (elementary, secondary and adult education sites) will be CLOSED to students.  Childcares in KPDSB schools will remain open, but before and after school programming will not be operating. Cooperative Education placements and all off-site programs for secondary students will also be cancelled for the day.

Families are encouraged to make alternate arrangements for their child(ren) for December 4, 2019, in preparation.  Please watch the KPDSB website  or KPDSB social media platforms for further updates, (click here to visit our KPDSB Facebook page, or here for KPDSB Twitter).  We will post any new information as it becomes available.
