Summer Credit Opportunities at Dryden High School
Independent Study Course
- Available to any high school student wishing to accumulate an extra credit
- Summer school session runs between June 27 – August 5 (all lessons and exams must be completed by August 5)
- Courses are independent study courses
- Qualified teachers are available on-line and tutoring will be made available
- Cost is $40.00 (payable to ‘Dryden High School’). This will be refunded if the course is completed by August 5
- Stop by the guidance office to register.
- Registration begins on June 7 and runs until courses are filled
Summer COOP
- Available to any high school student wishing to accumulate two extra credits
- There are two types of Summer COOP – Traditional or Paid
- Traditional is for students that are looking to gain experience in a career that may interest them after high school – not for pay
- Paid COOP is for students that already have full time jobs (minimum of 37 hours of work a week)
- Both of the summer COOP sessions are run in a six week block between June 27 – August 5 (these dates are firm)
- This is a 2 credit opportunity meaning that in both the paid and traditional COOP the student will have to work a minimum of 37 hours a week for a total of 220+ hours
- Students need to work a total of 220 hours to earn their two credits
- Prior to hours counting towards the needed 220 all students must complete orientation materials that can be done at home
- Stop by the guidance office to pick up a form – once the form is completed and handed in to the guidance office then students will be contacted by the COOP department for further instructions
- Forms must be handed in by Wednesday June 15
- There is no cost for Summer COOP
