DHS students get welding experience at Domtar

DHS Students at the Domtar Training Facility with instructor Don Tymura.

8 DHS Students attended a two day welding workshop at the Domtar Training Facility earlier this week.

The students from grades 9-12 spent the first half day going over welding safety and shop procedures. They then moved onto welding processes, and were able to work with a variety of welding equipment and techniques. Working with instructor Don Tymura the students were able to try their hands at stick welding in vertical and horizontal positions.

Mr. Leclerc says that a trip to Confederation College in Thunder Bay is being planned in order to give the students exposure to their training facility and opportunities.

Thanks to Randy McMonagle and Don Tymura for helping to make this activity happen.
