The DHS Boys hockey team fell 4-3 against the Broncos Tuesday night. A 3-3 tie was broken with 0.02 seconds left on the clock in the third, sealing the fate of the Eagles.

Goal scorers were Ryan  Lobreau with 1 and Matt Bartlett with 2 goals

Kim Wildhaber faced 32 shots for loss.

The Eagles were down 2-0 after the first and 3-2 after the second. A goal 46 seconds into the 3rd tied the game. The boys dominated the play for most of the 3rd but came up short as Kenora capitalized on a neutral zone turn over to score the winner.

“It was a game of inches tonight. I counted at least 7 goal posts and crossbars throughout the game for us.” said Coach Oltsher, “Our cycle was working well down low in the corners and gave us plenty of chances, but we just couldn’t convert those opportunities into goals.”

Next action is Tuesday in Fort Frances.

The Eagles Girls brought home a 4-1 win over the Beaver Brae Broncos.

Morning Announcements – Feb. 3, 2010

Feb. 3 Graduation pictures will be taken on February 17, 18 & 19th.  Yearbook pictures are free, but a sitting with proofs are $10.00 to $20.00 depending on the type of package you want.  You must get your picture taken with Lifetouch in order to be in the composite picture on the wall.  Sign up sheets are in the main office.
Feb. 3 The Canadian Red Cross is holding their 9th annual Feast or Famine on February 18th and 19th.  You can collect 8 volunteer hours by taking part in this fun event.  Sign up sheet and sponsor forms are in the Guidance Office.
Feb. 2 & 3 Do you like Science?  Then maybe you’ll want to compete in Envirothon.  We are looking for a junior team.  If you are in grade 9, 10 or 11 and interested in testing your skills & knowledge, then come to room 107 on Wednesday at 11:30.
Feb. 3 All wrestlers are reminded to meet in the big gym today at 11:30.
Feb. 3 Matchmakers will be distributed tomorrow during your Block A pd. 4 class.  Please bring a pencil to that class to use to fill it in.

Court Sport Results – Eagles take 3 of 4

The Dryden Eagles traveled to Kenora on February 2 to play the Beaver Brae Broncos.

The Junior Girls Volleyball team won their game in 4 sets.

The Senior girls volleyball team won their game in 3 sets.

The junior boys basketball team won their game, 57-48.

The Senior boys basketball team lost their game, 34-22.

Junior Boys coach Paul Darling says  “We dominated Beaver Brae for the first half, leading 31-14 going in the the third quarter.  We allowed them to come back in the third quarter and the game was eventually tied at 48 with 4 minutes left to play.  The team kept its poise thought and managed to pull ahead for the win.”   Leading all scorers for Dryden was Kurtis Burnell with 21 points.  Thomas Cooper added 12.

The Eagles travel to Fort Frances next Tuesday Feb. 9 and host Beaver Brae next Wednesday Feb 10.
