Eagles Girls Topple Saints

Game Pics (gallery, slideshow)

A 5-2 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas will send the DHS Girls Hockey team to the NorWOSSA finals.

Tonights game was a must win for the girls, having fell to TA in game two after winning game 1. The boisterous home crowd was not disappointed by the performance of the Eagles girls.

Karly Tardiff started things off for the Eagles in the first, followed by Alex Wesley. TA answered with one goal in the first, making it 2-1 at the end of 20 minutes.

The Eagles opened things up in the second, with a three goal insurance policy from Alex Wesley, Morgan Church and Kyley Engstrom. The Eagles defence and goaltending held off a tenacious TA squad, ending two periods with a 5-1 lead for the girls.

Period three remained scoreless until a late goal from the Saints made it a 5-2 hockey game.

Great work girls! Good luck in the finals.
