These excellent results earned DHS the “Top Team” trophy.

Congratulations to all Runners for not only being great competitors but also for being wonderful Ambassadors!

Good luck in International Falls on Thursday.

Homecoming Victory for Eagles Football

The Eagles won Homecoming 20-15 and began the day in style. Ryan Martel broke the scoring drought with a 68 yard TD run on the game’s first play and, after the defence got the ball back, Josh Reid took a toss and ran 49 yards for a second major. With a 14-0 lead the game then settled into a tighter match as Steinbach replied with a long pass of their own to make the score 14-7 by halftime.

In the second half the defence continued to hold as Travis Potter, Jake Savinac and Mike Lampshire all intercepted Steinbach passes with the last one setting up another TD drive for the Eagles. Ryan Martel scored his second TD of the day on a 2 yard plunge. The visitors added a TD and 2 point conversion in the 4th quarter to close to 20-15 and threatened twice more but 2 separate goal-line stands by the defence preserved the win.

The team as a whole played much more aggressively and seems to have taken a step in their development. They also benefitted from excellent weather and fan support throughout the Homecoming experience. After a road game at CanadInn Stadium in Winnipeg, the team will close out the season at home on Oct 22 vs. the Kildonan East Reivers.
