Eagles 3 for 4 vs. Fort Frances

The Eagles took on the Fort Frances Muskies in the penultimate set of home games for the season.

The Junior and Senior basketball teams eked out victories against the Muskies, with both games ending regulation play as tie games.

The Junior girls defeated the Muskies 27-26 after a back and forth game and overtime period. Leading scorers were Ashley Kropelin with 10, Alana Benson with 5 and Haylee Whitney with 4.

The Seniors dispatched Fort 28-23 in OT, with Morgan Church scoring 13, Wilma Oombash adding 5 and Halle Lobreau netting 4.

In volleyball the Eagles had a split result. The Seniors defeated the Muskies in four games (25-19, 25-21, 17-25 and 25-15).

The Junior Boys took the Muskies to five games but ultimately fell short (23-25, 25-14, 21-25, 25-23, 13-15).

Congratulations to all teams, and good luck in your final two regular season games!

The Eagles are back at home next Wednesday to take on Beaver Brae – be sure to come out and watch the final home games of the fall court sport season!

Morning Announcements – Oct. 13, 2010

Oct. 13 While daily life is happening, your Safe Grad Committee is quietly working in the background to make your Grad as memorable as possible!  Several of your peers have invested time outside of school in order to ensure the party is as great as it can be!  If you see any of the following people, thank them for their efforts!  Jace Kitson, Shad Espiritu, Nate Puddicombe, Shaun Espiritu, Mike Boyko, Carly Oberg, Carly Hammond, Darian Griffiths, Ryan Jaeger, and Danni Moore.  Many of you accepted at least one book of tickets to sell on behalf of your Graduation.  You need to find it and be ready to answer some questions when you get a phone call this week!  Mrs. Griffiths will be at the High School on Thursday at lunch to pick up sold books of tickets.
Oct. 13 Picture day is October 20.  The picture package brochures are here in the main office.  Please pick one up at your earliest convenience.
Oct. 13 The Dryden Swim Club is looking for some student volunteers.  It would be an excellent way to earn volunteer hours.  You would need to go for some timing training on Friday, October 15 from 6:30 until 8:30 & then would be needed for a swim meet on October 16 from 1:15 until 5:00.  For more information,  please come to the main office.
Oct. 13 This year at the Festival of Trees there will be a “Dryden Kids Have Talent” Show.  It will be November 27th at 6:30 p.m. at The Centre.  You can sing, dance, perform magic, or tell jokes.  Come to the main office for a registration form.  It will be limited entries, so sign up early.  There will be a $5.00 minimum donation to Grace Haven per entry.
Oct. 13 Do you want to help the school’s SAVE committee plan a Karaoke night and a school assembly?  If so please come to a SAVE meeting in the library every Wed. at 3:10.  Great way to earn volunteer hours.  Hope to see you there! 
Oct. 13 Do you need volunteer hours?  Do you love horses?  Do you want to make a positive impact on the lives of others?  Dryden Therapeutic Riding is committed to providing therapeutic, recreation and life skills training opportunities for children and adults with special need.  Volunteers are needed for all positions, and previous experience with horses is not necessary, as training will be provided.  If you are interested, a sign-up sheet is available in the main office.

Oct. 12 The Eagles defense came up big at the end of the Homecoming game with 2 goal line stands to preserve a 20 – 15 victory over Steinbach.  The Eagles offence scored on its first two plays and the team rode the energy of the fans to their best game to date.  Next up is a game on Thursday at the Blue Bombers Stadium.
