Court Sports Results – Wednesday, Sept. 30th

The Dryden Eagles traveled to Kenora for league play on Wednesday.

In volleyball, the Senior Boys fell in 3 sets, 10-25, 15-25, 21-25. The Junior boys came out on top, winning in three sets 25-11, 25-15, 25-18.

In Basketball, both girls teams picked up their first wins of the season. The Senior girls edged out the Broncos 38-35 and the Junior girls pulled off a 31-26 victory.

Keep up the great work, Eagles!

Another busy weekend for Eagles sports as the football team travels to Winnipeg to play the Murdoch McKay Clansmen.

Senior Girls basketball are hosting a tournament at DHS starting on Friday and continuing on Saturday.

Junior and Senior boys volleyball teams head to Winnipeg for tournament play.

Morning Announcements – Sept. 30, 2009

Sept. 30 & Oct. 3 Buy-in tickets for Friday’s University basketball game period 3 go on sale today at 11:30 in the student square & cafeteria for $3.00 ea.  Reminder to all students to bring your pledges & money to your Block B teachers for the Terry Fox Walk.  This event will now happen on Monday next week.
Sept. 29 Attention all students interested in Thrive Group, the group meeting will now be today, block D (10:15 – 11:30) in room 131.
Sept. 30 – Oct. 2 Rotary International is offering a program for qualifying grade 11 & 12 students that are interested in Agriculture.  This opportunity includes an all expenses paid trip to Regina from November 25 – 29.  Deadline is October 16th.  See Mr. Desautels in the guidance office for more details.

Scooping, Rolling and Pinching their way to the UK!

Friday and Saturday saw the DHS Food and Nutrition room transformed into a perogie making factory as the DHS Ambassadors took part in their yearly fundraising effort.

Over 2600 dozen perogies were produced (that’s over 31000 individual perogies) in a weekend that saw ambassadors, parent volunteers and friends pitching in to raise funds for this year’s trip.

World Travellers Staff Advisor Mme. Lovenuk, who has been co-ordinating perogie fundraisers since 1987, was very happy with the results, saying that “Considering that many participants have never seen a perogy being made before, the project was a complete success.  The dough was soft, the filling was tasty and the pinching was of good quality. Everyone was meticulous in their food handling practices.   Hair bonnets and rubber gloves were the style of the day!  Friday evening’s production broke our previous record.  In 4 hours we made more than 900 dozen…exceptional!” » Read more
