Ontario colleges are going virtual this fall, with a two-day fair that will showcase 24 of the provinceā€™s colleges for high school students, their parents and others interested in attending college next year.

The Ontario College Virtual Fair will be held November 4, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and November 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will be a one-stop shop that will give prospective students from across the province the opportunity to learn about the myriad of programs offered at Ontario colleges.

The virtual platform will feature an interactive event space that replicates an in-person fair. Attendees will be able to personalize their own avatars, which will have texting and real-voice capabilities, allowing for interaction with staff, faculty and current students from participating colleges.

Each college will have its own exhibition floor space. Within that space, colleges will have multiple booths, where attendees will be able to have one-on-one discussions with staff, watch videos and ask questions. A virtual auditorium will allow attendees to hear about individual campuses, competitive programs, scholarship opportunities and other highlights.

Presentations on topics such as How to Apply for College, Paying for College and College Pathways will be available for viewing in a larger virtual auditorium. Anyone interested in attending the Ontario College Virtual Fair will be able to register online starting the week of Monday, October 12, at www.ontariocollegefair.ca.

Participating colleges will be relying on Guidance Counsellors and teachers to bring this first-time event to the attention of their students and encourage them to register. Registrants will receive a link via email to participate in the virtual fair.COVID-19 has presented the college community with a situation where large recruitment events will not be possible in the fall of 2020. But we believe this virtual event has the potential to reach a greater audience, giving attendees access to Ontario colleges from anywhere on any device.
