DHS Celebrates National Treaty Week

Boozhoo – the administration and staff at Dryden High School wish to recognize this week as National Treaty Week. Treaties Recognition Week is the first week of November every year. Treaties Recognition Week was introduced to honour the importance of treaties and to help Ontarians learn more about treaty rights and treaty relationships.

As we are all Treaty people and partners in reconciliation, it is vital we acknowledge this land  to help develop a shared understanding of how our collective past has brought us to where we are today will help us together walk a path into a better and brighter future for all our peoples who are part of this land. Dryden High School is foremost a place of learning, and we know education is essential to help everyone grow and learn from each other in a safe environment.  This week we have a number of learning sessions, workshops, guest speakers to celebrate Treaty Week please take advantage and take part in these activities – please follow morning announcements to find out what activities are taking part each day. We have included a local First Nation drum group that will open our celebration today at lunch and will be back Friday at lunch to conclude the week.  I hope that we will continue working and learning together to help our students, succeed and continue on their path towards a bright positive future.
