Morning Announcements – Tuesday, January 28th, 2014

Jan 28 Attention any and all students interested in trying track and field or improving their speed, strength or fitness. You are invited to come out this week after school to learn basic and advanced training techniques from Ben Johnson, one of the fastest humans to ever walk the face of this earth. The camp is open to all interested students of any ability. It will run daily from 3:30-5 pm Monday through Thursday this week only.

All Interested students should meet at the DHS stage ready to work out at 3:30 pm.

Jan 28 There will be a Canadian Forces presentation on Wednesday, February 19.  The sign-up sheet is in the guidance office.
Jan 28 The Ontario Educational Leadership Centre is offering several leadership courses this summer.   Students will develop leadership skills through their choice of courses such as music, the arts, athletics or French.  For more information and applications stop by the guidance office.
Jan 28 The University of Toronto is committed to enhancing educational opportunities for Aboriginal youth.  As a result, a SOAR program during the March break of 2014 is being offered.  The program is at U of T – for more information please pick up an application form and a brochure in the Guidance Office.  The deadline to apply is Jan. 31, 2014.
Jan 28 Safe Grad Students – If you need more tickets to sell or have your sold booklets to hand in, please come to the office for contact information.
Jan 28 There are numerous opportunities to get your volunteer hours, please go to the guidance office or the main office for more information.
Jan 28 There is a Ringette tournament on Feb. 1 & 2 and they are looking for volunteers.  Call Laurie @ 221-9063.
Jan 28 – 31 The Centre will be having the Blackie and Rodeo King events sponsored by World Vision Canada on Feb. 4th and they are looking for 2 volunteers to assist at the Sponsorship table.  Volunteers must be 16 years or over and will also be able to see the show.   Please come to the office for more information.
Jan 28 The University of Winnipeg is hosting the High School Enrichment Program from April 29 – May 2.  Interested students please stop by the guidance office for more information.
Jan 28 The Heart and Stroke Foundation is looking for volunteers to help with Heartburn Day/who makes the best chili.  This will be held at the Fair Grounds on Saturday, Feb. 8th.  Please come to the office for further information.
Jan 28 DAARN (Dryden Area Anti-Racism Network) is looking for 4 volunteers on Friday, January 31st to help Shy-Anne Hovorka unload her music equipment at the centre.  Contact Leanna Bullock @ 216-8945.
Jan 28 Vermilion Bay Nursery School is looking for volunteers to help with activities at the Kid’s Carnival on February 15th. For contact information please stop by main office or guidance office.

Jan 28 Grade 12 students applying to universities and colleges outside of Ontario MUST let the guidance office know, or your transcripts will not be sent. Also, please remember to check the DHS website and the binder in the guidance office on a regular basis for the latest scholarships and bursaries.
