Morning Announcements – November 4th, 2013

Nov. 4 The Grade 10 civics exam is being written this morning block A.  Also a reminder to those students that have a spare in lieu of writing the exam, they are not to be loitering in the halls.  You can leave the building or go to the library or the caf.
Nov. 4 Congratulations to the Eagles Cross Country team for their great results at OFSAA Cross Country in Sudbury on Saturday.  Your Junior Boys Team of Jacob Benson, Ray Cook, Alex Urquhart, Mike Braun and Sean Wood finished 22nd of 850 schools in Ontario and 3rd overall among all AA/A schools in the province.  Your Senior Girls Team of Andie Wood, Martina Wintle, Domique Gardner, Gabby Gagnon and Elizabeth Carter claimed 33rd of 850 teams in the province and won the provincial AA/A category.  Top Individual honours of the day were recorded by Jacob Benson – 67th in the junior Boys race and Andie Wood, 39th in the Senior Girls race.  Congratulations to Ally Wisneski, Monica Tourond, Martine Evans, Kirk Markowski and Jake Wickstrom for their gutsy efforts in the midget girls and senior boys races.  The fall 2013 cross country season is now over.  Track and Field will begin in the new year.
Nov. 4 As cool weather approaches, the Nordic ski team will be starting their group dryland training.  If you are interested in trying out for the team this season, come to an information meeting tomorrow at 11:30 in room 137.  Newcomers are welcome!  No prior experience or equipment is necessary, but an average level of aerobic fitness is an asset.  If you are not able to attend or would like more information, please contact Mr Schmidt.
Nov. 4 Reminder to the girls hockey team to go to room B 24 at 11:30 today for pictures.
Nov. 4 Lakehead University is preparing for its 2013 Fall Preview Days on Tuesday, December 3rd.  This event is open to grade 12 students, their family and friends.  Registration information is available in the GO.
Nov. 4 The Gay-Straight Alliance meeting will be today at lunch in the upper video conference room.

The Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving group will meet Tomorrow at lunch in the upper video conference room.

Nov. 4 Grade 12 students applying to universities and colleges outside of Ontario MUST let the guidance office know, or your transcripts will not be sent. Also, please remember to check the DHS website and the binder in the guidance office on a regular basis for the latest scholarships and bursaries.
Nov. 4 Picture re-takes will be on Wednesday and the forms are on the counter in the office.  Remember you must pay the full amount the day of.  Also the Canadian Armed Forces will be here on Wednesday at 9:00 am in the Library.  If you are interested in University, College or the Reserves you should attend this session.  Sign up in the GO.
Nov. 4 There are still student ID cards to be picked up at the office, providing your student fees have been paid.
