Stop by the guidance office to check out Summer Credit opportunities at Dryden High School. You can chose between Independent Study Course, eLearning and/or Summer Co-op. Be sure to sign-up quickly as space fills up.

Independent Study Course

  • Available to any high school student wishing to accumulate an extra credit
  • Summer school session runs between June 25 – August 3 (all lessons and exams must be completed by August 3)
  • Courses are independent study courses
  • Qualified teachers are available Monday to Friday at a set time
  • Cost is $40.00 (payable to ‘Dryden High School’).  This will be refunded if the course is completed by August 3
  • Stop by the guidance office to register
  • Registration begins on June 5 and runs until courses are filled

 eLearning

  • Available to any high school student wishing to accumulate an extra credit
  • Course runs between July 3 and August 3.  Students must access their course regularly to keep up with the class
  • Students need reliable computer internet access
  • Students need to be self-directed learners as it is up to you to keep up
  • Classes are taught by qualified, experienced teachers
  • Please be aware that there will be no support for students with IEPs due to the nature of the summer course
  • There is no cost for eLearning

 Summer Co-op

  • Available to any high school student wishing to accumulate two extra credits.
  • There is no cost for Summer Co-op
  • There are two types of Summer Co-op – Traditional or Paid
    • Traditional is for students that are looking to gain experience in a career that may interest them after high school – not for pay
    • Paid Co-op is for students that already have full time jobs (minimum of 37 hours of work a week)
    •  Both of the summer Co-op sessions are run in a six week block between June 25 – August 3 (these dates are firm)
    • This is a 2 credit opportunity meaning that in both the paid and traditional Co-op the student will have to work a minimum of 37 hours a week for a total of 220+ hours
    • Students need to work a total of 220 hours to earn their two credits
    • Prior to hours counting towards the needed 220 all students must complete orientation materials that can be done at home
    • Stop by the guidance office to pick up a form – once the form is completed and handed in to the guidance office then students will be contacted by the Co-op department for further instructions
    • Applications are taken on a first come first serve basis as this program fills quickly.  Deadline is Wednesday June 15
