Morning Announcements – May 7th, 2012

May 7 Congratulation to the Envirothon team who represented DHS this past week in St. George On.  They had an excellent time & great results.
May 7 The  SAVE meeting is today in the Art Room at 3:10 so please come out and help us prepare for Pink Day 2012 which is being held on Friday, May 11th.  Everyone is welcome to come.
May 7 2012 Northern Ontario Youth Talent Search FUTURE STAR official Entry Forms are here in the main office.  The preliminary competitions are June 8th & 9th and the final competitions is Sunday, August 12th at the CLE Fair.  Limited entries will be accepted.  Juniors is a $15.00 entry fee and Seniors is a $20.00 entry fee.  For more information come to the main office.
May 7 Anybody looking to volunteer at the Relay For Life, please sign the list in the main office.
May 7 Organizers for Family Safety Night are looking for volunteers.  It would be easy, fun and greatly appreciated.  Volunteers are needed to hand out free items (token, draw ticket & promo item) to attendees and also to hand out free drinks & chips at the refreshment booth.  Shifts are available from 3:30 – 5:30 or 5:30 – 7:00.  Family Safety Night is Wednesday, June 6th.
May 7 Wednesday, May 9th 12:15 – 1:15 p.m. – Schools Building Schools celebration with Dryden Rotary Club – The first twenty students that sign up in the office prior to Friday, May 4th, will have the opportunity to Skype into a school in Tierra Blanca along with Rotary Club members from Dryden.  This session will take place in the DHS library beginning at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday May 9th.  The celebration is recognizing Dryden High School’s participation in the “Schools Building Schools” project.  Students from DHS helped raise enough money to build two schools.  A light lunch will be provided along with the opportunity to Skype with students in a school from another country.
May 7 The Canadian Cancer Society is looking for volunteers to help with an upcoming fundraiser.  They are looking for students to help set up, serving and kitchen help.  For more information, call JoAnne at 223-2471 or stop by the guidance office.
May 7 Volunteers are needed from June 15th – 17th for the Shaw Walleye Masters Tournament.  Stop by the guidance office for more information.
May 7 Brochures & information pamphlets are in the Phys. Ed. office for anybody interested in going to various summer camps for sports this summer.

May 7 Canadian Blood Services is asking for students and staff to rally together to save lives by donating blood at DHS on Tuesday, May 8 – 12:00 – 3:00 and 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.  There are a few appointment spots to fill between 12:30 & 1:30 p.m.  Those wishing to donate at other times or for other information can call 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283).  A single donation can help up to three people, so every donor counts.  Sign up is here in the main office.
