Morning Announcements – Oct. 14, 2011

Oct. 14 Congratulations to the entire Eagles Cross Country running team who travelled to international Falls to take on the top 18 teams from Northern Minnesota.  By the days end, the Junior boys took home bronze and your Junior Girls topped the field with a gold medal performance.  Congratulations to your Junior Girls Champions Elizabeth Carter, Andie Wood, Emmy Arsenault and Emily Day who finished an impressive 1st, 2nd, 16th and 17th in a stacked field to take home the gold.  Your entire Eagles team will advance to the NWOSSAA championships in Thunder Bay on Wednesday, October 19th.
Oct. 14 Good luck to our Jr. & Sr. boys volleyball teams playing in a tournament here this weekend.  Games start @ 1:00 p.m. today & go all day today & tomorrow.  Good luck also to our football team playing tonight @ 7:00 p.m. in the back football field.
Oct. 14 Cheerleaders are to meet Ms. Kurz after school in Room 124B to pick up their uniforms.
Oct. 14 – 18 University of Ottawa will be here on Monday @ 9:00.

Algoma University will be here on Tuesday @ 2:00

Oct. 14 Any graduates interested in purchasing a grad ring are asked to pick up a brochure and sign up for a ring fitting here in the office.  A sales rep from Jostens will be here on Tuesday & Wednesday, October 25 & 26 for the ring fittings.  A deposit of $60.00 is required when you place your order.
Oct. 14 Canadian Blood Services is asking for 35 students and staff to help hospital patients by donating blood at DHS on Monday, October 31st from 4:00 – 8:00 and Tuesday, Nov. 1st from 12:00 – 3:00 and 5:00 – 8:00p.m.  There are 35 appointment spots to fill between 12:25 and 1:45 on Nov. 1st.  Those wishing to donate at other times or for other information can call 1-888-2-DONATE(1-888-236-6283).  Thank you for helping hospital patients in need.  Sign-up is here in the main office.
Oct. 14 Are you interested in “out-shopping” in the Dryden Region?  Would you like to participate in a focus group in regards to this topic?  If so, please sign your name on the sign-up sheet in the main office.  GCK Consulting will be in Dryden High School in the near future to discuss this topic.  Please sign up by October 28, 2011
Oct. 14 Looking for community hours?  Dryden’s Gay Pride Committee is looking for volunteers to help sell ribbons around town to help the cause.  They are also looking for volunteers to help set up for Dryden’s Gay Pride Halloween Dance.  If you are interested, please sign up in the main office.  The Dryden Gay Pride Committee thanks you for your help and support.
Oct. 14 Grade 12 students are encouraged to check out the high school website for the latest scholarships and bursaries.  Stop by the guidance office for more information.
Oct. 14 Grade 12 students applying to universities and colleges outside of Ontario, MUST let the guidance office know, or transcripts will not be sent.
Oct. 14 A math and english tutor is needed for a student attending New Prospect School.  Interested students are asked to contact the Guidance Office.
Oct. 14 The Dryden Rotary Club is once again sponsoring “Adventures in Agriculture”.  Senior students who are interested in agriculture, environmental issues and participating in tours and presentation; check out our Eagles .com website or come to the Guidance Office for more information.  Deadline for applications is Oct. 21st.
Oct. 14 The Dryden Mission is looking for volunteers to help with merchandising donations and moving boxes.
