Morning Announcements – May 12, 2010

May 12 Congratulations go out to the DHS Outdoor Education program who over the last 4 days planted 19660 trees as a part of reforestation efforts in our area.  Great effort and a big thank you to all who participated.
May 12 The weight room will be closed to student use until Wednesday, May 19th.  This is as a result of members not cleaning the room after using it.  Hopefully when it reopens, members will be more responsible in policing themselves.
May 12 All right visual arts members it’s workshop time.  There will be a workshop on Thursday, May 13th from 3:15 – 4:45 in room 130.  Cost is $5.00.  Learn techniques with fancy inks to make art, cards & jewelery.  Sign up in the art room.
May 12 Northwestern Health Unit has a student job opening.  Be sure to check out the posters around the school for more information.
May 12 Another opportunity to get some volunteer hours has just surfaced.  Organizers of Dryden’s first ever Centennial Run on Aug. 8th, are hoping to get some volunteers to help out at this event.  Help would be needed at hydration stations approximately every 2 km along the race route, help with set up and clean up and other race related jobs would also be available.  For more information call 223 – 4550.
May 12 A reminder to grade 12 students applying for local bursaries and scholarships:  The deadline for several of the local bursaries and scholarships is May 15th.
May 12 Vermilion Bay Sr. Club is looking for student volunteers to help with an event on June 26th.  They would need help with setting up of tables and chairs, serving meals and then clean up after the event.  For more information call 755-1512.
May 12 Any students needing volunteer hours:  Full Gospel Church is doing another clean-up on May 15th.  That’s this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Please contact Mr. Shearer at 223-5504 or jim.shearer @ kpdsb.on.ca
May 12 Anybody interested in volunteering at the air show on the May long weekend, or the Relay for Life on June 4th, please sign the sheets in the main office with the times that you are available.
May 12 The Canadian Red Cross (Dryden and District Branch) is currently seeking volunteers for upcoming events.  Tag Day is May 21st at several different locations throughout Dryden.  For more information, contact the Canadian Red Cross office in Dryden at 223-4751.
