May 3 Announcements

Did you miss the meeting about travelling with DHS Ambassadors to Europe next March?  Don’t worry, you can still talk to Mr. Mitchell or come out on Tuesday, May 14th for the next information meeting.
Hey, Hey MA, anyone playing for Music in Motion or Grad Band are to attend the meeting today at lunch to choose sheet music and rehearsal dates.  If you are unable to attend, be sure to let someone in MA know.
There will be a Lunch hour lockdown Tuesday’s & Thursday’s in Room 119.  Come and work on your assignments. Lunch will be provided.
On Thursday, May 9th, there will be a student vs. teacher volleyball game during the lunch hour.  This is to help raise awareness for mental health.  If you are interested in participating there is a sign-up sheet in the main office.

May 1 Announcements

The final list for conservation camp has been chosen. You can see the final list posted outside of room 137.  All successful applicants are to attend a brief mandatory meeting in room 137 at the beginning of lunch tomorrow.   If students are not able to attend for any reason, please be sure to talk to Mr. Schmidt ahead of time.  Congratulations to all applicants!
We would like to invite Grade 10 and 11 students to the 3% presentation during Period 1 today.  The 3% project aims to reach 1 million Canadian youth (which is 3% of the total population) with the message to “educate and empower us to plan and take action towards climate change solutions in local communities.”  The presentation will begin shortly after morning announcements and is projected to continue until 10:05.  
For those in the Dramatic Arts Association; don’t forget to save the date for this Sunday. Come to Wednesday’s improv lunch meeting for more information.

Apr 25 Announcements

Congratulations to Liam and Julia Jones who travelled to Thunder Bay to represent DHS a the NWOSSAA badminton championships yesterday.  They defeated all 5 other regional teams from Atikokan, Chapleau, Thunder Bay & Terrace Bay to finish with a 5 – 0 record and the gold medal.
The Dryden Chamber of Commerce is looking for students in need of volunteer hours to work at the Home & Sports show this weekend.  Please call Amy @ 223-2622 or email chamber@drytel.net if you are able to help out.
The Amesdale cemetery group are looking for a couple of volunteers for 3 to 4 hours this weekend. Please call Jerry Wilson’s cell 220-3454.
Report cards will be handed out in your block A class (Pd. 4).  If you have a spare/co-op they will be in the main office.
Remember Friday is a PD day, so there is no school.

Important message for potential grads…It’s time to order your cap & gown.  The fee is $25.00 to rent the gown and you get to keep your hat. Orders must be paid for in the office by Friday, May 3rd.
My blueprint course selections are open for 2019-20!  If you need to reset your password, please come to Guidance during lunch to do so.  Counsellors will be making class visits in March to discuss options and you can always make a Guidance appointment to talk about options in person.
