Scooping, Rolling and Pinching their way to the UK!

Friday and Saturday saw the DHS Food and Nutrition room transformed into a perogie making factory as the DHS Ambassadors took part in their yearly fundraising effort.

Over 2600 dozen perogies were produced (that’s over 31000 individual perogies) in a weekend that saw ambassadors, parent volunteers and friends pitching in to raise funds for this year’s trip.

World Travellers Staff Advisor Mme. Lovenuk, who has been co-ordinating perogie fundraisers since 1987, was very happy with the results, saying that “Considering that many participants have never seen a perogy being made before, the project was a complete success.  The dough was soft, the filling was tasty and the pinching was of good quality. Everyone was meticulous in their food handling practices.   Hair bonnets and rubber gloves were the style of the day!  Friday evening’s production broke our previous record.  In 4 hours we made more than 900 dozen…exceptional!” » Read more

Morning Announcements – Sept. 28, 2009

Sept. 28 The Eagles football team persevered Friday in a hard fought Homecoming game, winning 9 – 6.  The team now looks ahead to a road trip on Friday to face the Murdoch McKay Clansmen.
Sept. 28 There will be a golf team meeting today at 11:30 in room 129.  (Coop office)
Sept. 28 The Terry Fox Walk scheduled for today is postponed to a future date.  Students are still asked to bring your pledges & donations to your block B teachers.  Stay tuned for an update.
Sept. 28 – Oct. 2 Attention all students interested in Thrive Group, the group meeting will be on October 2, block D in room 131.
Sept. 28 University of Manitoba representatives will be here on today, from 2:00 – 3:00 in the library.  Interested students should sign up in the Guidance Office.
Sept. 25 – 28 A reminder to staff and students that the College Information Program Tour will be here Tuesday, Sept. 29th from 9:00 to 10:00 in the small gym.  Approximately 16 colleges from across Ontario will be available to answer questions.  For more information go to the Guidance Office.

The DHS Eagles put on a great show for an appreciative hometown crowd at this years homecoming match.

The Eagles fought the St. Johns Tigers to a 9-6 finish in an action-filled game at Harry McMaster field. Jamie Mesics brought in the lone Eagles touchdown with Adam Swientek adding the extra point. Swientek latter added a rouge to bring the Eagles to 9 points.

Thanks to all the fans who came out to support the Eagles for Homecoming!

The Eagles travel to Winnipeg this Friday to take on the Murdoch McKay Clansmen. The next home game for Football is also the last one of the season, October 23 vs the Oak Park Raiders. Come out and cheer on your Eagles!
