The Dryden Eagles went 4 for 4 in court sport action today, winning each of the final regular season games of the season.
The Senior Girls volleyball team started off the day for the Eagles with a straight sets win over the Beaver Brae Broncos (25-12, 25-1 and 25-19). Coach Desautels said that “the girls played well as a unit in all three sets. It was a great NorWOSSA prep for the girls as they were able to play in the big gym.”
The Senior Boys basketball team pulled out a 43-39 victory over the Broncos – their first in regular season play. “We played a very smart game for the first three quarters.” said Coach Lalonde, “Defensively we stuck to the game plan. We had a lapse in the fourth quarter and allowed one player too many open shots which cut into our lead. Offensively, we did a lot of good things. We showed a lot of patience and shot the ball well. I wasn’t happy in the fourth quarter that we let them back in the game. Offensively we were not as aggressive and did not control the tempo. We panicked under their pressure and had too many turnovers. It was a very big win for a lot of guys on the team. It was a reward for the players for all their hard work during the season.”
The Junior Girls Volleyball team defeated the Broncs in three straight – 25-16, 25-17 and 25-20.
The Junior boys basketball team won their final game of the season 47-39. Their season record finishes at 3 wins and 5 losses.
The boys came out strong with multiple fast breaks and forced turn overs. Their lead was 32-20 at the half.
The boys did not surrender the lead once and continued on for the win.
“Heading in to the NorWOSSA playoffs, we absolutely need to communicate more and get better at moving the ball between the guards without turning it over” said Coach Darling. “A game like this shows us just how far we’ve progressed this year and gives the entire team a bit of extra confidence heading in to next Friday.”
Leading all scorers was Kurtis Burnell with 13, Kale Kuzemchuk with 9, Thomas Cooper and Nick Skillen, 6 each.
