Boys Eagles Hockey Victory in Fort Frances

"Most Dedicated Player of the game" - Coach Oltsher didn't see until the end of the game that team captain Kyle Hamilton had taped a glove to his arm to replace a forgotten elbow pad.

Another big win for the DHS Boys hockey team last night as they travelled to Fort Frances last night and defeated the first place Muskies by a 5-2 margin.

The Eagles quickly jumped into the lead in the game with goals from Ethan Egli, Blair Dingwall and Ryan Lobreau to lead 3-0 after the first period.  They then weathered the storm in the second as Fort Frances scored on only 1 of 4 powerplays.  The Eagles penalty kill was consistent all game and they played well in the defensive zone, not allowing Fort a lot of close opportunities like they have in the past.

In the third Period they continued their strong forecheck and Dingwall notched his second of the game with 6 minutes left in the game to make it 4-1.  The Muskies applied some pressure late and added a goal but the Eagles responded with an empty net tally from Brendan Angeconeb to wrap up the victory.  Zach Lake faced 30 shots to post the victory.

“We haven’t played a good defensive 60 minutes since early in the season and it was great to get my first win in the Fort Frances Arena in the five years  I’ve been coaching” said Coach Oltsher.

Next action is Feb 19 and 20th as the Eagles host Red lake for their final 2 regular season games.
