DHS Hockey Updates

A slow start for the DHS boys team this weekend ended well at the 21st Annual Brandon Genesis hockey Tournament this past weekend.
Games 1 and 2 ended with losses to Selkirk (3-2) and John Taylor (7-2) and injuries depleated the bench early on into the tournament. This placed the Eagles into the bottom Crocus Plains Division where they ran the table by defeating all opponents to gain the championship. Wins over Winkler (4-2), Carman (3-2) and Morden (1-0 SO) were lead by Alex Calvvert (4 goals and 1 assist), Kale Kuzemchuk (3 goals) and Kyson Jensson (2 goal 2assists).
The highlight of the Tournament being the shoot-out win over Morden in the Division final. Kirk Markowski and Alex Calvert scored in the shootout whil goaltender Justin Oltsher stopped all 39 shots in the game as well as 2 of 3 shooters he faced.
Additional accolades were awarded to Oltsher as he was named to the Tournament’s All Star team as best goalie.
Eagles next action is Thursday in Sioux Lookout.
