Morning Announcements – Nov. 3, 2010

Nov. 3 Mr. Harvey Heather with the Canadian Blood Services will be visiting senior classes this morning with a short presentation regarding donating blood at this Blood Donor Clinic.
Nov. 2 – 5 There will be seats for spectators on the bus going to the Court Sports NorWOSSA playoffs in Fort Frances next Wed., Nov. 10th.  Consent forms & permission to miss class forms can be picked up in the Phys. Ed. office.  Get them signed & return them with your $15.00 to the Phys. Ed. office.  There are a limited # of seats so it will be 1st come 1st served.
Nov. 3 If you are looking for a challenging and exciting opportunity this summer, come and check out the Shad Valley Presentation.  Shad Valley places students at one of Canada’s universities for an in-depth exposure to science and business.  You will meet other highly motivated students from across Canada and have a ton of fun while you learn.  If this sounds appealing, come and listen to students who attended Shad Valley last summer and why YOU should sign up!  The meeting will be today, during the second half of period one.  Please wait to be called down. 
Nov. 2 & 3 Students are reminded that University of Calgary reps will be here today at 9:00 in the library.  Interested students are to sign up in the Guidance Office.
Nov. 3 Attention Grade 12’s with Safe Grad Tickets – Ticket books must be turned in by Friday November 19th unless you have made other arrangements with Mrs. Griffiths. 
Nov. 2 – 4 Mrs. Griffiths will be at the school over lunch on Thursday to collect ticket stubs & money and assist grads that are having trouble selling their tickets.
Nov. 2 Canadian Blood Services is asking for over 35 students and staff to help hospital patients by donating blood at DHS on Nov. 3 from 4:30 – 9:00 and Thurs. Nov. 4 from 12:00 – 3:00 & 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.  There are 35 appointment spots to fill between 12:30 and 2:00 p.m.  Those wishing to donate at other times or for other information can call 1-888-2-DONATE.  A single donation can help up to three people, so every donation counts!
Nov. 2 Grade 12 students are encouraged to check out the bulletin board and binder in the guidance office for the latest scholarships and bursaries.
Nov. 2 This year at the Festival of Trees there will be a “Dryden Kids Have Talent” Show.  It will be Nov. 27th at 6:30 p.m. at The Centre.  You can sing, dance, perform magic, or tell jokes.  Registration forms are here in the main office.  Sign up early as entries are limited.  There is a $5.00 minimum donation to Grace Haven per entry.
