Morning Announcements – May 8th, 2012

May 8 The boy’s golf team finished 7th out of 21 teams yesterday at the Wilderness Invitational in Fortune Bay, Minnesota.  Adam Getson led the way placing 20th out of 122 competitors, with Geoff Kitt placing 27th, Kirk Markowski 37th, Tyler Boon 50th, Josh Brunton 54th and Josh Kitt 79th.  The teams next action is Wednesday in International Falls.
May 8 For those students not in grade 12 University Biology, Chemistry or Kinesiology this semester that had one of these classes first semester that would like to attend a knee surgery during Friday, May 18th, period 2, please sign-up in the main office.
May 8 Noon hour lunch has been moved to Thursday this week!  Stay tuned for more exciting.
May 8 A reminder of some upcoming events:  The Spring Fling School dance this Thursday from 7 – 10:30 p.m. It is semi-formal.  Doors open @ 7:00 until 8:45 only – so make sure you’ve made arrangements to be here by then.  The guest list is in the main office & must be signed by today @ 3:30 – DHS students & guests can only be DHS who graduated last June.  Admission is $5.00.  Bags/coats/purses check for $1.00.  There will be canteen items for good prices too.  Athletic Awards Banquet is coming upon Thursday, May 31st.  It is semi-formal – $10.00 each for tickets available in the phys. ed. office, main office & Time-Out Sports – all athletes & parents are welcome.
May 8 2012 Northern Ontario Youth Talent Search FUTURE STAR official Entry Forms are here in the main office.  The preliminary competitions are June 8th & 9th and the final competitions is Sunday, August 12th at the CLE Fair.  Limited entries will be accepted.  Juniors is a $15.00 entry fee and Seniors is a $20.00 entry fee.  For more information come to the main office.
May 8 Anybody looking to volunteer at the Relay For Life, please sign the list in the main office.
May 8 Organizers for Family Safety Night are looking for volunteers.  It would be easy, fun and greatly appreciated.  Volunteers are needed to hand out free items (token, draw ticket & promo item) to attendees and also to hand out free drinks & chips at the refreshment booth.  Shifts are available from 3:30 – 5:30 or 5:30 – 7:00.  Family Safety Night is Wednesday, June 6th.
May 8 Just a reminder to students of the Schools Building Schools celebration with Dryden Rotary Club tomorrow in the library at 12:15.  The celebration is recognizing Dryden High School’s participation in the “Schools Building Schools” project.  Students from DHS helped raise enough money to build two schools.  A light lunch will be provided along with the opportunity to Skype with students in a school from another country.
May 8 The Canadian Cancer Society is looking for volunteers to help with an upcoming fundraiser.  They are looking for students to help set up, serving and kitchen help.  For more information, call JoAnne at 223-2471 or stop by the guidance office.
