Morning Announcements – May 4, 2011

May 4 To coop students a reminder that today is an in-class reflection day.
May 4 A reminder to golf team members of the meeting today in room 119 at 11:30.
May 4 Grade 12 students are encouraged to check out the Local Scholarship & Bursary site for new bursaries and updated information.
May 4 The Dryden Native Friendship Centre will be hosting a Youth Leadership and Career Development Forum Tues. May 17 and Wed. May 18 at the Centre.  Lunch and Snacks will be provided and registration packages are in the Guidance Office.  For more information see Mrs. Ambridge or Terra Ambridge.
May 2 – 5 Reminder to students attending Lakehead University next year of a family applicant reception in the library on Wed. May 4 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  There will be a follow-up meeting for students who have applied to Lakehead for the upcoming school year in the library on Thurs. May 5th at 10:15 (Block C)
April 29 – May 3 There will be a Children and Youth Mental Health in Schools Awareness Symposium on Friday, May 6th from 10:00 a.m.  – 2:30 p.m.  Mrs. McConnachie would like to invite some students to attend.  If this is an area of interest and you would like to attend, please let the office know by Tues. May 3rd.
May 2 – 6 The Dryden & District Agricultural Society will be hosting a garage sale on May 6 & 7.  This is a perfect opportunity for students still needing some volunteer hours.  If you would like to volunteer to help set up this week, please come to the main office for more information.  (Call 223-6766/email info@drydenfair.ca for times)
April, May Canadian Blood Services is asking for 40 students and staff to help hospital patients by donating blood at DHS on Mon., May 9, from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. and Tues., May 10 from 12:00 – 3:00 and 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.  There are 40 appointment spots to fill between 12:30 and 2:00 p.m.  Those wishing to donate at other times or for other information can call 1-888-2-DONATE.  A single donation can help up to three people, so every donor counts!
May 2 The Dryden Ball Diamonds Committee is looking for some student volunteers to help with set up on May 6th serving dinner on May 7th and take down on May 8th for the 7th Annual Chamber Business Excellence Awards Dinner.  Please come to the main office for more information if you are interested.
May 2 Grade 12 graduating students…graduation is less than 2 months away.  Orders for your cap and gown can be  placed here in the office.  $25.00 will reserve a cap and gown…a requirement for walking across the stage.  If you are choosing not to attend the graduation ceremonies, a form must be filled out indicating a cap and gown will not be required.  Deadline is April 21st.
May 2 Attention to students who have not yet returned the green Consent to Release Personal Information form that was in with your report cards, please return this form as soon as possible.  Without this consent form, your picture will not be in the yearbook.  If you need a form, there are extras here in the main office.
