Morning Announcements – April 21, 2010

April 21 – May 6 Canadian Blood Services is asking for 40 students to help hospital patients by donating blood at DHS on Wed., May 5 from 4:00 – 8:30 and Thurs., May 6 from 12:00 – 3:00 and 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Since a single donation of blood can help up to three people, a successful clinic in Dryden will help up to 915 patients in need of blood treatment.  There are 40 appointment spots to fill between 12:30 & 1:30 on May 6 (Thurs).  Please sign up in the office.  Those wishing to donate at other times or for other information can call 1-888-2-DONATE.  Thank you for helping hospital patients in need.
April 21, 22 All students who received an invitation to the DHS Conservation Camp presentation are reminded to attend the meeting Thursday at the beginning of lunch in room 137.  There are only 24 spots available, so a selection process will determine who is able to participate.  If you are unable to attend, please see Mr. Schmidt beforehand.  If you did not receive an invitation, you are welcome to attend this information meeting, but will be required to complete an application for openings that MIGHT become available.
April 20, 21 Congratulations to the following students who won the Regional Skills Competition in Thunder Bay this past weekend:  Tyler Ormerod won second place in Carpentry. Josh Walker and Calvin Murray won second place in TV & Video Production.  Best of luck in the Provincial Skills Competition.
April 20, 21 Attention:  Arts Council members – ALL Drama, Music & Visual Arts Association members planning on attending the upcoming Winnipeg Field Trip – there is a mandatory meeting today, April 21st.  Meet in the music room @ 11:30.  Remember:  You must attend this meeting if you are planning on going on the trip.  See ya there!
April 21 All badminton players who did not advance on are to return their shorts to the main office as soon as possible.
April 21 White Pine readers – voting has begun.  Come into the library to cast your vote for your favourite book.
April 21 If you are a student in need of some volunteer hours – the Full Gospel Church needs you for stitch ripping for costumes.  Contact Jim Shearer at 937-1901.

April, May The Dryden Centennial Air Show is looking for volunteers for May 22 & 23.  For more information contact the guidance office.
Apr. Grade 12 graduating students…graduation is only a few months away.  Orders for your cap and gown can now be made at the office.  $20.00 will reserve a cap and gown … a requirement for walking across the stage.  If you are choosing not to attend the graduation ceremonies, please fill out a form indicating a cap and gown will not be required.
