Gowns for Grads @ DHS

Volunteers at Dryden High School are launching “Gowns for Grads”, a program that provides formal attire to high school graduates so they can attend their graduation festivities with pride. Graduates are referred to Gowns for Grads by school counsellors, teachers, principals, social service agencies and are accepted into the program based on their individual situations.

Throughout the year, Gowns for Grads will collect donations of new and used formal wear (mens and ladies). On April 10th at the Best Western, Gowns for Grads will hold its “Boutique” where the students can come and select their graduation outfits. With the assistance of volunteer “personal shoppers”, each grad will select a gown or suit and accessories. Once the students have selected their outfits, arrangements will be made for any necessary alterations and/or cleaning of the outfit.

There are many ways you can hlep out. Spread the word, tell your neighbours, friends and co-workers. Check your closets to see if you or any member of your family has any formal wear that you would be willing to donate. You can also volunteer to help out at the April 10th boutique.

Donations can be dropped off at the main office of Dryden High School between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday to Friday, or you can contact a committee member below for pickup.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Sherri Ambridge, Sandy Armstrong or Leanna Bullock at 223-2316 or Patty Lyle at 223-5311 ext. 246.
