Jan 31 Nordic Skiers from across the region braved the cold wind and slow snow conditions yesterday afternoon at the NorWossa championships, hosted by the Dryden Ski Club.  Jamee Desserre had a strong race, taking silver in the junior girls category, while Cynthia Terry finished only 7 seconds out of third place.  Dryden Eagles dominated the Senior Girls division, with Amy Wickstrom taking gold, Payton Zilkalns winning silver and Sarah Urquhart with a strong third place finish.  The boys side showed some excellent results as well, with Liam Jones finishing 4th in a very competitive Junior boys division dominated by Red Lake and Kenora skiers.  Nic Peters moved up into the senior division and was able to place third behind a couple of very strong Atikokan skiers by only 15 seconds.

Eagles skiers now move on to NWOSSAA competition held next week in Kenora, where they will be racing against some very talented Thunder Bay teams as well.  Go Eagles!
