Morning Announcements – Wednesday, February 19th, 2014

Feb 19 The girls hockey team capped off their regular season last night with a 5 – 1 win over the TA Saints.  Come cheer on the girls this Friday at the Dryden Arena as they open the playoffs against the Red Lake Rams.  Game time is at 6:30.
Feb 19 All junior girls volleyball, junior boys basketball & cheerleaders, please empty out your lockers from the change room by tomorrow at 3:10 – including all garbage and leave the locks in the locker.
Feb 19 Grade 12 graduation picture re-takes will be on March 26 & 27.
Feb 19 There will be a free lunch in room 124 B today.
Feb 19 There will be a Gay Straight Alliance meeting tomorrow at lunch in the upper video conference room.

Feb 19 The Dryden Rotary Club is once again sponsoring a grade 11 or 12 student to attend this year’s Adventures In Technology that runs from Apr 28th to May 2nd in Saskatoon.  Application forms can be picked up in the Guidance Office.  Deadline for applications is Tues, Mar.4th
Feb 19 If you are a Gr. 11 student and planning to attend Confederation College after high school, please listen up….Confederation College will pay the $95.00 application fee and credit a $1,000 entrance bursary for five grade 11 students.  All you have to do is sign up in the Guidance office and indicate your intended program of study.  The deadline is Feb. 28th.
Feb 19 Volunteers are needed for the Dryden Novice Tournament on Feb. 21 – 23rd to time keep and run the door. Please see Mrs. Viherjoki to get your volunteer hours.
Feb 19 There are summer job opportunities for students with the Ontario Public Service.  Please go to the Guidance Office for more information.
Feb 19 There will be free tutoring in the library on Tuesday mornings from 8:15 – 8:45 am and Thursdays at lunch from 12 – 12:30 pm
Feb 19 The Ontario Educational Leadership Centre is offering several leadership courses this summer.   Students will develop leadership skills through their choice of courses such as music, the arts, athletics or French.  For more information and applications stop by the guidance office.
Feb 19 The University of Winnipeg is hosting the High School Enrichment Program from April 29 – May 2.  Interested students please stop by the guidance office for more information.
Feb 19 Grade 12 students applying to universities and colleges outside of Ontario MUST let the guidance office know, or your transcripts will not be sent. Also, please remember to check the DHS website and the binder in the guidance office on a regular basis for the latest scholarships and bursaries.
