Morning Announcements – Thursday, September 12th, 2013

Sept. 12(8:50 & 3:10) Cheerleading tryouts start tomorrow at 7.  Look for the poster in the student square for more dates and times.

CIP(Ontario Colleges) September 30th- Representatives from several Ontario colleges will be set up in the Cafeteria

UIP (Ontario Universities) – October 8th – Representatives from all Ontario Universities will be set up in the Cafeteria

Signup sheets are in the guidance office and a complete list of all presentations is posted by the guidance office.

Sept. 12 – 13 Imagine white sand beaches to yourself; kayaking at the foot of a Volcano; zip lining through the rainforest; and learning about, while serving the environment.   This could be you over the March Break.   Bring a parent out to an information meeting about our trip to Costa Rica at 6:30 in room 107 next Tuesday, Sept 17th.
Sept. 12 – 13 Brock Penner will be in the library for tutoring on Tuesday mornings from 8:15 – 8:45 and Thursday’s from 12 – 12:30.
 Sept. 12  There will be a meeting for the Yearbook Club this today at 11:40 in Room B24.  Please see Mr. P. Darling if you are interested in joining.
Sept. 12 This message is for all graduates.  There will be a safe grad meeting on Monday, Sept 16th at 7 pm in the DHS library.  This is for all parents/guardians and students.
Sept. 12 – 13 Attention students and teachers.  In order to facilitate teacher learning we will be implementing a late start day once per month for this school year.  On late start days busses will still run at their regularly scheduled times and students who are in the building will be supervised.  Dryden High School will have their first late start day on Monday.The school day will be shortened so the hours are as follows:

Period One 10:15 to 11:00

Break 11:00 to 11:10

Period Two 11:10 to 12:00

Lunch 12:00 to 1:00

Period Three 1:00 to 2:00

Break 2:00 to 2:10

Period Four 2:10 to 3:10

Sept. 12 If you did not receive the hand out regarding the late start day on Monday, please come to the office and pick one up.
Sept. 12 If you are in need of volunteer hours, the Ice Dogs are looking for helpers to work the door and pick up pucks.  You can sign up at the main office if you are interested.
Sept. 12 Adventures In Agriculture 2013/14The Dryden Rotary Club is once again sponsoring a grade 11 or 12 student to attend Adventures In Agriculture. THIS PROGRAM held during the internationally acclaimed Canadian Western Agribition Livestock Show and Sale held annually in Regina. The program is aimed towards senior High School Students interested in agriculture, and is designed to help broaden knowledge and understanding of the multi-faceted agricultural sector, environmental issues, and the challenge of providing food for the world.

Interested students should go to the Guidance Office.

 

Sept. 12 There will be a sexual health clinic in the Guidance office every Monday between 11 and 1.  A nurse is available and no appointment is necessary.
***Message to all Parents/Guardians  All parents and guardians are invited to the first School Council meeting which will take place on Tuesday, September 24th.  The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm in the DHS Library.  Hope to see you there.
