Morning Announcements – Monday, February 24th, 2014

Feb 24 The girl’s hockey team defeated the Red Lake Rams last night 4 – 2 in their opening playoff game behind a solid team effort.  Scoring for the Eagles were Brenna Stratford, Elizabeth Carter, Liv Carter, and Martina Wintle.  Game 2 is Tuesday night in Red Lake.
Feb 24 & 25 The Grade 7/8 elementary basketball tournament will be held at DHS this Thursday and they need referees from 8 – 3:30.  If you are interested in volunteering please see Mr. Lalonde.
Feb 24 You can still pick up your match maker for $2 at the office.
Feb 24 Grade 12 graduation picture re-takes will be on March 26 & 27.
Feb 24 If you are in need of volunteer hours, the Dryden Mission is looking for students to help with snow and garbage removal, basement sorting and hockey equipment sorting.  Also the OPP is now accepting applications for a Marine Assistant this summer.  Please come to the office for more info.
Feb 24 The Dryden Rotary Club is once again sponsoring a grade 11 or 12 student to attend this year’s Adventures In Technology that runs from Apr 28th to May 2nd in Saskatoon.  Application forms can be picked up in the Guidance Office.  Deadline for applications is Tues, Mar.4th
Feb 24 If you are a Gr. 11 student and planning to attend Confederation College after high school, please listen up….Confederation College will pay the $95.00 application fee and credit a $1,000 entrance bursary for five grade 11 students.  All you have to do is sign up in the Guidance office and indicate your intended program of study.  The deadline is this Friday.
Feb 24 There are summer job opportunities for students with the Ontario Public Service.  Please go to the Guidance Office for more information.
Feb 24 The Ontario Educational Leadership Centre is offering several leadership courses this summer.   Students will develop leadership skills through their choice of courses such as music, the arts, athletics or French.  For more information and applications stop by the guidance office.
Feb 24 The University of Winnipeg is hosting the High School Enrichment Program from April 29 – May 2.  Interested students please stop by the guidance office for more information.
Feb 24 Grade 12 students applying to universities and colleges outside of Ontario MUST let the guidance office know, or your transcripts will not be sent. Also, please remember to check the DHS website and the binder in the guidance office on a regular basis for the latest scholarships and bursaries.
