A group of DHS students were in Thunder Bay on the weekend to participate in the regional qualifier for the Ontario Technological Skills Competition.

The Skills Canada competition had students competing in a variety of areas, including TV and Video Production, Carpentry, Welding, Culinary Arts and Small Motors. DHS students participated in the TV/Video and Carpentry challenges.

In TV and Video Production, students were asked to create a 30 second commercial with an anti-bullying message. Josh Walker and Calvin Murray earned a second place finish for their video.

In Carpentry, students were given materials and a blueprint for a doghouse, which they had to complete in the allotted time. DHS student Tyler Ormerod finished in second place. Jory Smale received a certificate for earning a mark of over 75%. Brandon St. Laurent also competed for DHS.

Josh Walker, Calvin Murray and Tyler Ormerod have qualified to compete in the Provincial championship next month in Waterloo.

Great work! DHS is proud of your excellent skills.
