The fire trucks would park on the two doors found on the left. The Court House was located on the second floor directly above the parking garage.

On the side door to the right was the town clerk's office. Directly behind the second door was the telephone company.

As a young child of 6 years of age, Sandy Ferguson has vivid memories of watching the telephone operators manually connect the telephone switches when one resident made a call to another. The operators would wait at the switch boxes, and when a light came on the operator would ask the caller the number that they were wanting to reach. The operator would then manually connect the two parties together through the switches.

To this day, many children and teenagers, especially boys, have a keen interest and a wanting to understand any electronic gadget that has buttons to press and lights that flash!

The tall tower attached to the building was used to dry the fire hoses after they were used to extenguish a fire. The fire hoses were hung from the top of the tower where they drained any remaining water and dried ready for the next use. The fire siren was also located at the top of the tower.

Notice the stairway directly in front of the tower. This stairway led to the Police offices and the Court Room located on the second floor.

Situated in the basement of this building were four or five jail cells where incarcerated supspects were detained. In addition, the Town of Dryden electrical, sewer and water departments were located as well.

Directly behind this building was the high school.
