Redvers Adair was a very likeable and easy going young man. He came from a large family of 10 children. He had reddish brown hair, blue eyes and freckles.

Redvers' family was very musically oriented. He learned to play the piano, horn, and fiddle at a young age.

Redvers’ mother was a sister to Minnie Horn’s mother, and thus Redvers was James Reid’s first cousin. Both were killed in the War.

As was common after the Great Depression, many voluntarily joined the Canadian forces to escape the poverty they experienced. Many young men like Redvers, enlisted because they were guaranteed a warm pair of winter boots and a warm winter coat.

The Adair family emigrated from Scotland and it is recorded that Redvers’ great grandfather helped start the Manitoba Medical Society.

During active battle, Redvers was running across a field to find and repair a section of the communications cable that was damaged when he was shot and killed. He was not killed by stepping on a land mine as once believed by family
