Nov. 29 The girls hockey team defeated the Red Lake Rams last night 5 – 1. Scoring for the eagles were Lyndsey Oliphant with 2 goals and Jenna Langlais, Martina Wintle, and Emmy Arsenault with singles.  CJ Jolicouer earned the win in net.  Listen to CKDR this Sunday at 5:30 for live coverage vs. TA.
Nov. 29 (all day) Today is buy nothing day!  You may know that it is also Black Friday!  But do you really need to buy all that stuff that is just going to end up in the dump?  Make a commitment to buy nothing today and help save our earth one shopping decision at a time.

Nov. 28 – Dec. 4th The annual Eagle’s Nest parent shopping night will be happening next Wednesday, December 4th from 6 - 9 pm.  This is a great opportunity for your parents to get their Christmas shopping out of the way and  also a great opportunity to get all of your Eagles wear!

Nov. 26 There is a Beauty and the Beast rehearsal after school today.
Nov. 26-27-28 On Thursday morning at 11:15 all potential grads are to go to the big gym for a meeting with Mrs. McConnachie.

Nov. 26 The Eagles girls hockey team hosts the Fort Frances Muskies in their home opener tonight.  Come down to the arena to cheer them on!  Warm-up is at 6:00 with puck-drop at 6:30.
Nov. 26 Reminder that the Eagle’s Nest is now selling sports drinks everyday at lunch for $2.00 each.

Nov. 25 A huge congratulations to the Sr. Boys Volleyball team for their antique bronze metal at OFSAA in T.Bay this weekend.  They were 4th in all of Ontario!  Way to go!!

Nov. 20 The Nordic Ski Team Dryland Practice will be indoors tonight.  Please meet in room 137 @3:30.  New athletes are welcome!
Nov. 20 The students that had picture retakes can now pick up your student card at the office, providing your student fees have been paid.  Your pictures will be handed out today in your block A class.
Nov. 20 Today at lunch you can come to the student square to hand in your sold safe grad tickets or to collect more tickets to sell.
Nov. 20 am Next Wednesday, Nov 27th we are hosting the Elementary Volleyball Tournament.  Students interested in scorekeeping and/or refereeing in this tournament are to sign up in the main office or contact Mr. P. Darling via email or twitter.

Morning Announcements – November 19th, 2013

Nov. 19 In regards to the bus cancellation yesterday and attendance, students that ride the bus do not need a note as you were excused.  If you are not a bus student and were absent, you will need a written note to get an admit.
Nov. 19 Sr. boys b.ball practice at 5 tonight.
Nov. 19 Cheerleaders can pick up their competition waiver in the office today.
Nov. 19 Young ladies of DHS are welcome to join Mrs. Ambridge in Room 130 starting today to make Christmas ornaments to decorate our tree.  Today’s project is mini moccasins and the lunch is pancakes.
Nov. 19 The singles ping pong tournament will occur as scheduled today.  Please make your way to the cafeteria at the start of lunch.
Nov. 19 –all day Today is the last day to submit order forms for the Eagles Jackets.  Please bring your form to the eagles nest store at lunch.  For those that were waiting for jackets to try on, they will be in the store at lunch today.
Nov. 19 (am & lunch) Ont. Students Against Impaired Driving members are reminded of the video conference today at the start of lunch in the upper video conference room.  Members are asked to be prompt and to bring your lunch.

Morning Announcements – November 4th, 2013

Nov. 4 The Grade 10 civics exam is being written this morning block A.  Also a reminder to those students that have a spare in lieu of writing the exam, they are not to be loitering in the halls.  You can leave the building or go to the library or the caf.
Nov. 4 Congratulations to the Eagles Cross Country team for their great results at OFSAA Cross Country in Sudbury on Saturday.  Your Junior Boys Team of Jacob Benson, Ray Cook, Alex Urquhart, Mike Braun and Sean Wood finished 22nd of 850 schools in Ontario and 3rd overall among all AA/A schools in the province.  Your Senior Girls Team of Andie Wood, Martina Wintle, Domique Gardner, Gabby Gagnon and Elizabeth Carter claimed 33rd of 850 teams in the province and won the provincial AA/A category.  Top Individual honours of the day were recorded by Jacob Benson - 67th in the junior Boys race and Andie Wood, 39th in the Senior Girls race.  Congratulations to Ally Wisneski, Monica Tourond, Martine Evans, Kirk Markowski and Jake Wickstrom for their gutsy efforts in the midget girls and senior boys races.  The fall 2013 cross country season is now over.  Track and Field will begin in the new year.
Nov. 4 As cool weather approaches, the Nordic ski team will be starting their group dryland training.  If you are interested in trying out for the team this season, come to an information meeting tomorrow at 11:30 in room 137.  Newcomers are welcome!  No prior experience or equipment is necessary, but an average level of aerobic fitness is an asset.  If you are not able to attend or would like more information, please contact Mr Schmidt.
