May 29 The Cooperative Education Share Fair will take place today. Teachers and students are encouraged to come to the library and see first-hand the many diverse experiential career opportunities that are offered through the Co-op experience.

May 29  Athletic Awards Banquet is coming up on Thursday, May 31st.  It is semi-formal - $10.00 each for tickets available in the phys. ed. office, main office & Time-Out Sports – all athletes & parents are welcome.
May 29 2012 Northern Ontario Youth Talent Search FUTURE STAR official Entry Forms are here in the main office.  The preliminary competitions are June 8th & 9th and the final competitions is Sunday, August 12th at the CLE Fair.  Limited entries will be accepted.  Junior entry fee is $15.00 and Senior is a $20.00 entry fee.  For more information come to the main office.

KOSSS Square Dance Team @ the Centre

You are invited to the Centre tonight for a 'KOSSS Square Dance Team' performance at 7:00. 

The team consists of 16 Keewaytinook Okimakanak students who attend various high schools in Thunder Bay.  They are students who have taken an interest in extra-curricular activities and have been practicing throughout the academic year.

The show is free to interested members of the public and will be followed by a meet and greet with the students and members of KO, including Goyce Kakagamic and Geordi Kakepetum.  Bannock and juice will also be offered after the presentation.  There is no cost for individuals or their families to attend this event.

We hope to see you there!

May 15 The boy’s golf team had their best team finish of the season at Giant’s Ridge, Minnesota yesterday placing 2nd out of 12 teams, 5 strokes behind Duluth Central.  Josh Kitt lead the way with a 79, Tyler Boon (80), Kirk Markowski (80), Geoff Kitt (81), Josh Brunton (82) and Adam Getson (89).

May 10 The boy’s golf team finished 3rd yesterday in International Falls with their best team finish of the season.  Kirk Markowski fired a 2 over par 74 to place third overall with Josh Kitt carding a 79, Geoff Kitt 80, Josh Brunton 83, Adam Getson 85 and Tyler Boon 88.  Good Effort Team.

May 9 Just a reminder to students of the Schools Building Schools celebration with Dryden Rotary Club today in the library at 12:15.  The celebration is recognizing Dryden High School’s participation in the “Schools Building Schools” project.  Students from DHS helped raise enough money to build two schools.  A light lunch will be provided along with the opportunity to Skype with students in a school from another country.
May 9 The Canadian Cancer Society is looking for volunteers to help with an upcoming fundraiser.  They are looking for students to help set up, serving and kitchen help.  For more information, call JoAnne at 223-2471 or stop by the guidance office.

Morning Announcements – May 8th, 2012

May 8 The boy’s golf team finished 7th out of 21 teams yesterday at the Wilderness Invitational in Fortune Bay, Minnesota.  Adam Getson led the way placing 20th out of 122 competitors, with Geoff Kitt placing 27th, Kirk Markowski 37th, Tyler Boon 50th, Josh Brunton 54th and Josh Kitt 79th.  The teams next action is Wednesday in International Falls.
May 8 For those students not in grade 12 University Biology, Chemistry or Kinesiology this semester that had one of these classes first semester that would like to attend a knee surgery during Friday, May 18th, period 2, please sign-up in the main office.
May 8 Noon hour lunch has been moved to Thursday this week!  Stay tuned for more exciting.
May 8 A reminder of some upcoming events:  The Spring Fling School dance this Thursday from 7 – 10:30 p.m. It is semi-formal.  Doors open @ 7:00 until 8:45 only - so make sure you’ve made arrangements to be here by then.  The guest list is in the main office & must be signed by today @ 3:30 – DHS students & guests can only be DHS who graduated last June.  Admission is $5.00.  Bags/coats/purses check for $1.00.  There will be canteen items for good prices too.  Athletic Awards Banquet is coming upon Thursday, May 31st.  It is semi-formal - $10.00 each for tickets available in the phys. ed. office, main office & Time-Out Sports – all athletes & parents are welcome.
