Junior boys lost 41 to 39 in overtime. Brandon Thompson scored 10, Zech Noiseux scored 9

Morning Announcements – December 21, 2011

Dec. 21 CJ Ecker backstopped the girls hockey team to a 4  - 1 victory over the Beaver Brae Broncos in Kenora last night.  Providing offence was Alexis Reid with two goals and Morgan Church and Kristen Bartlett with singles.  The girls are now 8 – 0 on the season.  Their next game is on January 10th against Red Lake.
Dec. 21 Reminder to all cheerleaders that there is practice Friday morning.  This is mandatory for all cheerleaders.
Dec. 21 Grade 12 students are encouraged to check out the high school website for the latest scholarships and bursaries.  Stop by the guidance office for more information.
Dec. 21             Grade 12 students applying to universities and colleges outside of Ontario, MUST let the guidance office know, or transcripts will not be sent.

Court Sports vs. Kenora

The Senior Boys Basketball team has defeated the Broncos 39 to 25. Thomas Cooper had 10. Kurtis Burnell had 8.

The Junior Boys Basketball team lost to the Broncos 37-28. Matt Kelly had 8 and Brandon Thompson had 6.

Senior Girls Volleyball won in 4 sets - 25-18, 25-11, 23-25, 25-17.

The Junior Girls Volleyball team also won in 4, 25-20, 18-25, 26-24, 25-21.

Eagles are at home in Dryden to take on Fort Frances on Wednesday.

Morning Announcements – December 19th, 2011

Dec. 19 The girls hockey team improved to 7 – 0 on the season with Friday night’s 4 – 2 win over the TA Saints.  Scoring for the Eagles was Alexis Reid with a hat trick and another added by Morgan Church.  Earning the win in net was CJ Ecker.  The girls’ next game is on Tuesday, December 20th in Kenora vs. Beaver Brae.  Puck drop is 4:30 p.m. 
Dec. 19 All wrestlers must attend practice today and weigh in for the tournament this week.  You must weigh in to wrestle on Wednesday.

The DHS Music Classes end task concert is tonight at the Centre. $5 at the door starting at 7 pm.

Eagles Boys Basketball in Baudette

The Eagles Sr. Boys Basketball team headed over the border this weekend for tournament play in Baudette.

The Boys dominated their opponents in game 1, picking up a 72-30 win. Josh Kitt scored 12 and Greg Olson 11.

Game 2 vs. Baudette saw the Eagles come out on top with a 66-57 victory. Kurtis Burnell tallied an impressive 15 points and Devon Noel had 7.

Dec. 16 Thank you to all the staff & students who came out to the dance last night.  Congratulations to Hannah Szmon & Shane Kirton who were Snowball Queen & King.  Food bank boxes will be collected this morning period 1.  Remember to start decorating your doors on Monday.

Morning Announcements – December 13, 2011

Dec. 13 The Co-op Share Fair will be held all day Wednesday, Dec. 14 in the library.  Students who are considering taking Co-op are encouraged to drop in to visit the displays and find out more about what the Co-op Program has to offer.
Dec. 13 The Grade 11 Cosmetology class will be styling hair for the Snowball Dance during period 3 and 4 on Thursday, December 15th.  $10.00 for hair touching shoulders, $14.00 for longer hair & $2.00 for bang trims.  See Mrs. Durocher in the cosmo room 124A to book a stylist.
Dec. 13 Grade 12 students, a representative from Contact North will be here today.  Contact North is a Distance Education & Training Network that provides a host of services to northern students.  For more information or to sign up, stop by the guidance office.

Dec. 12 Congratulations to the girls hockey team for winning the PCI tournament in Portage.  The girls went 3 – 0 in the round robin and defeated Beaver Brae 2 – 0 in the championship game.  Scoring in the final game were Martina Wintle and Kristen Bartlett.  Earning the shutout and game MVP honours was CJ Ecker.  The team hosts TA this Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Sr. Boys Basketball in Fort Frances Tourney

Update: The Senior Boys have defeated Baudette 64-55. Skillen had 14 points and Burnell 13.

In their first game the boys were defeated by Fort Frances 52-51.

In the next match vs. International Falls the boys bounced back to a 45-30 win.

Great play, Eagles!
