Morning Announcements – November 24, 2011

Nov. 24 Grade 12 students that missed the Ontario Colleges & Universities training sessions, counselors will be in room 119 at lunch time today to help with the application process.
Nov. 24 – Dec.1 Cheerleading photos will be taken on Thursday, Dec. 1st at lunch.  Meet in the tech room.  Also:  Please remember to bring your stunt clinic fees to Friday morning practice!
Nov. 24 Attention staff & students of DHS.  We have had a request from the senior residents of Princess Court Home for the Aged.  They would love to have students or groups of students share some Christmas cheer with them.  If you are planning a short play or have songs to sing or poems or stories to recite or a dance to perform they would love to have you entertain.  To share your joy of the Christmas season with Patricia Gardens residents please call Julie at 223-4600 ext. 30 to arrange your visit.
Nov. 21 – 24 Beginning today, any students who are interested in learning how to “shuffle” which is a style of dance, can come to room 117 at 11:30.
Nov. 24 There will be a Lakehead U. presentation on Thursday, Dec. 1st @ 10:30 in the library.  Please sign up in the Guidance Office.  There will also be a parent’s information session that night from 7:00 – 9:00 in the DHS library.
Nov. 24 A rep from Con College will be at DHS on Dec. 6.  Please sign up in the guidance office if you would like to attend the presentation.
Nov. 24 Sunset Country Heritage Music Association is in need of volunteers to help serve food & help with clean up for their Christmas dinner & dance @ the Legion on Saturday, December 3rd from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Contact Mervin @ 216-8319
Nov. 24 The Vermilion Bay Happy Go Lucky Seniors Centre is in need of volunteers for a Bake Sale on Nov. 26th from 11:00 – 1:30.  Please call 227- 5375.
Nov. 24 Festival of Trees to support Grace Haven is looking for student volunteers to help with moving, decorating, set up, serving coffee & tea and the special events help.  Come to the office for more information.  (221-2233)

Nov. 24 Grade 12 students applying to universities and colleges outside of Ontario, MUST let the guidance office know, or transcripts will not be sent.

Morning Announcements – November 23, 2011

Nov. 23 The boys hockey team dominated Red Lake, posting a 7 – 1 win last night.  The girls team played a closer game against their rivals from Kenora and it went to a shootout after overtime ended 3 – 3.  Brenna Stratford scored the winner in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Nov. 23 All cheerleaders meet Ms. Kurz in Room 107 at the start of lunch for a quick meeting.
Nov. 23 Students interested in trying out for the DHS Track and Field Team are asked to attend an information and sign up session today at 11:45 in room 124B, the foods room.

Eagles Hockey Hometown Success

 Both Eagles Hockey teams added wins last night as the boys faced the Red Lake Rams and the girls took on the Beaver Brae Broncos. 

The DHS Boys Eagles notched a 7-1 win over the Rams. Sawyer Kluke opened things up in the first period. A busy second period saw tallies by Kale Kuzemchuk, Joel Allen, Richie Callewaert, and Josh Brunton. Kyson Jensson and Tyler Kirouac rounded out the third with a goal each.

Adam Notte face 18 shots in net for the victory.

The Eagles Boys travel to Fort Frances next Tuesday Nov 29 and then to Brandon Tournament on Dec 1-4

The Eagles girls are 2-0 after defeating the Broncos in a shootout. Brenna Stratford scored the OT goal for the win.
