Boys Volleyball OFSAA Updates

Consolation Semifinal

Dryden loses in two sets (25-17, 25-19) to Chippewa.

Congrats on a great tournament, Eagles. Have a safe trip home.

Consolation Quarterfinal vs. Monsignor J. Pereyma:
Win first set 25-12
Win second set 25-12

Game 4:
Eagles are 2-2
Eagles drop first set vs. Norwell 23-25
Eagles lose second set vs. Norwell 24-26

Game 3:
DHS is now 2-1 after falling to Walkerville in 2 sets - 25-19 and 25-17.

Game 2:
DHS wins first set vs. St. Paul 25-16
DHS wins second set vs. St. Paul 25-19
DHS is now 2-0 on the tournament.

Game 1:
DHS Takes first match from Timiskaming - Set 1 25-13, Set 2 a close 26-24 game.

First game Dryden dominated with a lot of kills. Second set was closer because passing and sets weren't where they should have been. Came back from 2-8 deficit and 16-22 deficit to win 26-24.

Eagles Hockey Results

The boys hockey team hit the ice in Dryden tonight for their home opener, falling 5-0 to the Fort Frances Muskies.

The girls fared better in Fort Frances as they topped the Muskies 3-2.

NWOSSA Update – Eagles Boys OFSAA Bound!

The Senior Boys Volleyball and Senior Girls Basketball teams are competing in the NWOSSA finals.

The Senior Boys won their first match in three straight sets (25-21, 26-24, 25-15). The 7:00 match was more of the same, with the Eagles cruising to a three set victory (25-22, 25-20, 25-10). The boys will travel to Mississauga on Wednesday, November 24th to participate in the AA OFSAA tournament. Goog luck boys!

The Senior Girls were in Thunder Bay to take on the heavily favoured St. Ignatius Falcons. After losing their first game 57-22 the Eagles fell 78-28 to finish the series.

Nov. 17, 18 The Nordic Ski Team will be having a startup meeting at lunch today in room 137.  All interested skiers are welcome, and no experience is necessary.  If you are looking for a great way to improve your fitness and endurance, while competing in both a team and individual setting, come out and see what it’s all about.  Today at lunch in room 137. 
Nov. 17 - 18 Students have an opportunity to buy a ticket to watch the Sr. boys Volleyball team play St. Ignatius for NWOSSAA this Friday period 4.  Tickets are on sale today at lunch in the student square – for only $2.00 each.  You need to sign your ticket, show it to your period 4 teacher for attendance on Friday & bring the ticket with you to the gym for entrance to the game.  Friday is an extreme Blue & Gold/Eagles wear Day so come dressed up & cheer on our team.

Nov. 11 Congratulations to all the team members of the Sr. Girls Basketball team who captured the NorWossa Gold yesterday, defeating Fort Frances Muskies 38 – 36.  They now advance to the NWOSSA in Thunder Bay next Friday.
Nov. 11 To graduating students with Safe Grad tickets – Mrs. Griffiths will be in again over lunch today in the library to collect tickets & money.
Nov. 11 There will be a short but important Drama meeting today at lunch in room 125.  All members must attend.
Nov. 11 Dryden Native Friendship Centre is having an afternoon of Road Hockey.  It will be on Saturday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Friendship Centre driveway.  Bring a hockey stick if you have one, your friends & lots of energy!  A light snack will be provided.

DHS Court Sport teams in Fort Frances for NorWossa Championship

Sr. Boys win NorWOSSA Gold in three sets 25-23, 25-22 and 25-18.

Sr. Girls win NorWOSSA Gold! Final Score 38-36. Morgan Church had 20 pts, Halle Lobreau 7 and Carly Kaus 6.

The DHS Volleyball and Basketball teams are in Fort Frances today competing for the NorWossa Championship.

The Junior Boys lost in the final match to the Fort Frances Muskies in 4 sets. (25-20, 19-25, 23-25, 19-25.)

The Junior Girls fell 36-29 in the final game. Ashley Kropelin and Amy Doudiet led scorers with 7 and Hailey Yurkiw added 6.

The Sr. Girls won the semifinal match 36-16 and will be playoing in the final this evening.

Morning Announcements – Nov. 10, 2010

Nov. 10 Teachers are reminded that verification sheets are due in to the main office no later than 4:00 p.m. today.
Nov. 10 Poppies are available in the main office for any donation to the Legion which goes towards people in the  Military & their families.  Someone will be around again tomorrow morning to Pd. 1 classes to be sure everyone has a chance to receive a poppy.  Remember to wear your poppies on your left side over your heart.
Nov. 10  Try outs for 2nd season court sport teams – girls volleyball & boys basketball, will start within a week.  Sr. Girls volleyball starts this weekend & the rest next week.  Please see the posters hanging up around the school for days & times.
